Hai Phong prosecutes group of swindlers of 10 billion VND through AGOLD virtual currency system

Hai Phong City Police have just discovered a group of subjects with signs of illegal multi-level marketing activities and using high technology to commit property appropriation through advertising and enticing people to invest in a virtual currency system called AGOLD on the website http://agold.tech.

Nguyen Van Dat, born in 1979, residing in Phuoc Dien 1 village, Dien Tho commune, Khanh Hoa province, Pham Duc Anh, born in 1977, residing in Group 1, Phuong Liet ward, Hanoi city and a number of other subjects established DIGITAL SPACE Vietnam Joint Stock Company with Dat as General Director, located on the 2nd floor, No. 46, Lane 50, Me Tri Thuong street, Tu Liem ward, Hanoi city.

DIGITAL SPACE Vietnam Joint Stock Company only hangs the company name sign at the registered location, and does not have any other business activities.

In order to attract more people to invest in virtual currency, from April 2023, Dat, Duc Anh and other subjects discussed and provided information: DIGITAL SPACE Vietnam Joint Stock Company developed the AGOLD system, a DHT virtual currency mining technology project with global connections, integrating Blockchain technology, the accumulated DHT virtual currency in the future will be listed (put on) international cryptocurrency exchanges and can be highly liquid to exchange for Vietnamese Dong.

The subjects offer investment packages from 3,000,000 VND to 25,000,000 VND with different DHT bonus benefits for investors to choose from; those who participate in investing first will receive a percentage (%) of commission if they introduce more participants to invest later.

From the end of 2023 to the end of 2024, many people transferred money to the group of subjects to invest in packages under the AGOLD system, the number of about 400 investors, equivalent to an amount of about 10 billion VND.

The money that investors spent was not transferred to any system of the cryptocurrency mining process but transferred directly to Nguyen Van Dat's personal accounts. Nguyen Van Dat and the people of DIGITAL SPACE Vietnam Company did not have any profit-making business activities but used the investors' money for personal use and paid commissions to the market development team in the form of taking money from later participants to pay the previous ones, the remaining amount of investors' money was withdrawn by the subjects for personal consumption.

On November 5, 2025, the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Hai Phong City Police issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and execute a detention order against two subjects Pham Duc Anh and Nguyen Van Dat for the crime of "Using computer networks, telecommunications networks, and electronic means to commit acts of property appropriation" according to the provisions of Article 290 of the Penal Code.

Currently, there are still many investors whose assets have been appropriated when participating in projects of this group of subjects.
