Hai Phong launches Action Month for Gender Equality

Hai Phong City requires units and localities to step up propaganda of policies and laws on gender equality; and prevent and respond to gender-based violence in cyberspace.

Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, launched the Action Month for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2025.

On the morning of November 11, the People's Committee of Hai Phong city launched the Action Month for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2025.

Attending and speaking at the launching ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, called on all levels, sectors, organizations, communities and all people to join hands to act for an equal, safe and happy society for women and girls in the digital age.

In order for the 2025 Action Month to be effectively implemented, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested Party committees, authorities, departments, branches, sectors, organizations and localities to increase attention, leadership and organization of gender equality work; promote propaganda and dissemination of the Party's guidelines, State policies and laws on gender equality, prevention and response to gender violence in the media, cyberspace, agencies, schools and communities.

Integrate gender equality targets and objectives into socio -economic development programs and plans; improve the capacity of staff working on gender equality; strengthen inter-sectoral coordination, ensuring effective implementation of relevant policies and laws.

Sectors, agencies, units and localities need to strengthen prevention, detection, containment and strict handling of acts of violence and abuse against women and children, especially in cyberspace; take advantage of social networks to spread positive information, build a culture of safe and humane digital behavior.

Strengthen support, consultation and legal aid for victims of gender-based violence, ensuring that all victims have access to necessary support services. Regularly organize inspections and supervision of the implementation of policies and laws on gender equality; promptly commend and reward groups and individuals with outstanding achievements, and strictly handle violations.

Hai Phong City People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 10 collectives and 11 individuals with outstanding achievements in consulting and implementing gender equality work in the 2021 - 2025 period.

The Action Month is held annually from November 15 to December 15, as a peak period to raise awareness and promote action for gender equality nationwide.

This year's theme is "Gender equality and safety for women and girls in the digital age" affirming the role and responsibility of the whole society in enhancing safety, protecting women and girls from risks in cyberspace, while creating conditions for them to promote their capacity and actively contribute to socio-economic development.

With the consistent viewpoint of ensuring substantive equality between men and women in all fields: politics , economy, culture, society, in recent times, Hai Phong city has issued and implemented many programs, policies, and plans to enhance the status of women, narrow the gender gap, ensure social security, and promote women's advancement.

However, in addition to the achievements, gender equality work still faces many difficulties and challenges such as: gender prejudice and the idea of ​​"male superiority and female inferiority" still exist in a part of the population; women still suffer many disadvantages in employment opportunities, income and access to resources.

In particular, gender-based violence in cyberspace is becoming increasingly complex, seriously affecting the psychology, honor, dignity and lives of women and girls.

Therefore, protecting women and girls' safety in cyberspace is the responsibility of the whole society, a practical action to protect human rights and build a humane and equal living environment.
