Hai Phong strengthens cooperation and investment promotion with Denmark and South Korea

On the afternoon of July 14, Mr. Le Ngoc Chau, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, had a meeting and worked with delegations of Ambassadors, Associations, and enterprises coming to Hai Phong to expand cooperation and promote investment on the occasion of attending the 3rd ABAC meeting here.

At the reception of Mr. Nicolai Prytz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Vietnam, Mr. Le Ngoc Chau, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee expressed his joy at welcoming the first Ambassador to visit Hai Phong city after the merger.

Informing the Ambassador about some outstanding achievements in Hai Phong's socio -economic development, the Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized: Since July 1, after the merger, Hai Phong City has the third largest economic scale in the country, with synchronous investment in transport and industrial infrastructure, contributing to creating an attractive investment environment.

The city currently has 1,730 foreign investment projects from 44 countries and territories, with a total registered capital of nearly 50 billion USD. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, it has attracted more than 1.5 billion USD. Appreciating the partnership between Vietnam and Denmark in general, Hai Phong - Denmark in particular, the Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that the Ambassador will connect businesses to invest in Hai Phong, especially in areas of potential and advantages for both sides such as: wind power, seaports, logistics.

Danish Ambassador Nicolai Prytz thanked the Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee for his reception and highly appreciated the city's potential, strengths and advantages in attracting investment. The Danish Embassy is ready to continue to act as a bridge to attract businesses and investment funds to Hai Phong City; realizing the contents of the memorandum of understanding signed by both sides.

Expressing his impression of Hai Phong's strong development in recent times and agreeing with the wishes of the City Chairman, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz hoped to receive support and facilitation from the city government so that Danish agencies, organizations and businesses could cooperate and invest effectively and long-term in Hai Phong.

Immediately afterwards, Mr. Le Ngoc Chau, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, continued to have a working session with Mr. Ko Tae Yeon, Chairman of the Korean Business Association in Vietnam (KOCHAM) and leaders of 3 companies of LG Group (Korea).

At the meeting, KOCHAM leaders and General Directors of LG Display Vietnam, LG Electronics and LG Innotek thanked the City leaders for their support and expressed their desire to continue to make positive contributions and marks to the development of Hai Phong City.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee thanked KOCHAM for always accompanying Hai Phong to promote investment and business for member enterprises over the past 20 years, making a positive contribution to the city's development. At the same time, he requested KOCHAM to continue supporting and coordinating with Hai Phong City to connect large Korean enterprises and corporations to invest in the city, especially investing in the free trade zone being planned under a special mechanism and the city's priority areas such as high technology, supporting industry, semiconductors, smart logistics, seascapes, renewable energy and ecological urban areas; supporting the connection of vocational training and high-quality engineers to meet the practical requirements of enterprises.

Specifically, it is to organize regular dialogue programs between city leaders and the Korean business community operating in Hai Phong to promptly grasp and remove difficulties and obstacles for businesses. At the same time, it updates new policies, orientations for investment and development planning of the city, cooperates in training high-quality human resources, and organizes the Vietnam - Korea Business Forum in Hai Phong.

Mr. Ko Tae Yeon, Chairman of the Korean Business Association in Vietnam, hopes to continue receiving support and facilitation from the City's leaders for the Korean business community investing and operating in the locality in the spirit of trustful, substantive cooperation and mutual development.

Recognizing and appreciating the effective investment activities and positive contributions to the development of Hai Phong City by LG Group companies over the past 10 years, Mr. Le Tien Chau emphasized: Hai Phong is implementing the construction and establishment of the Southern Economic Zone with special preferential policies, including the Free Trade Zone, so we hope that LG Group will pay attention to researching and implementing new projects, continuing to be a pioneer in connecting with supporting enterprises, prioritizing the creation of conditions for Hai Phong enterprises to participate in LG's production chain.

At the same time, it is recommended that businesses continue to pay attention to implementing and expanding investment projects in Hai Phong; pioneer and prioritize creating conditions for businesses in Hai Phong to participate in LG's production chain; research and build a separate supply chain for Hai Phong businesses to contribute to improving the capacity of local businesses...

Representatives of LG Group highly appreciated the open investment environment and the support and facilitation of the city leaders. The Group pledged to continue investing in Hai Phong with more advanced and modern product lines. At the same time, they hoped that the city leaders would continue to accompany, with favorable mechanisms and policies, so that LG Group could invest and cooperate more effectively and long-term in Hai Phong.

“The leaders of Hai Phong City always listen, accompany and resolve difficulties and problems and commit to creating the most favorable conditions for the business community, including Korean enterprises, to invest, operate and develop in the locality,” affirmed the Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee.

At the receptions, the Chairman of the City People's Committee respectfully invited the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, KOCHAM leaders and LG Group enterprises to attend the Hai Phong City Investment Promotion Conference at the 3rd Meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC 3) on the afternoon of July 15.

This is the city’s biggest foreign affairs and investment promotion event of the year. At this conference, Hai Phong City will award investment certificates and investment cooperation memorandums of understanding with a total value of more than 15.6 billion USD.
