Previously, in the early morning of November 13, while fishing in the 12 nautical mile southwest area of Truong Sa Island, fishing boat PY90009TS captained by Mr. Tran Van Dung, 51 years old, residing in Tuy Hoa ward, Dak Lak, suffered a gearbox failure, affecting its maneuverability. The fishing boat contacted the Truong Sa Island Logistics and Technical Service Center for assistance in repairing the problem. At 6:30 a.m. on November 13, the fishing boat maneuvered into the Truong Sa Island dock (belonging to the Truong Sa Special Zone) and safely docked.
Immediately after the fishing boat docked, the Center's technical staff grasped the damage status and through inspection and survey determined that the clutch had a damaged transmission gear system and was leaking oil. With the consent of the fishing boat captain, the Center's technical staff disassembled the clutch and brought it to the workshop for repair.
By 10:00 a.m. on November 14, the problem with the PY 90009 TS vessel had been resolved, installed, tested and operated normally. Currently, the fishing vessel is anchored at the dock to consolidate its fishing gear and wait for favorable weather to continue fishing.
Along with helping fishermen overcome the problem, officers and staff of the Truong Sa Island Logistics and Technical Service Center propagated to overcome IUU warnings, provided 2,000 liters of fresh water, gave national flags, life jackets and some necessities to fishermen.
Fishing vessel PY90009TS, with 7 crew members, fishing for tuna, departed on October 30, 2025.
