During the month, the entire sector focused on implementing key tasks according to the annual plan, strengthening state management of customs, promoting administrative procedure reform, facilitating trade, and improving the efficiency of customs inspection, supervision, and control.

A notable result is that import and export activities continued to maintain positive growth momentum. In April 2026, total import and export turnover reached US$95.97 billion, an increase of 2.4% compared to the previous month. Of this, exports reached US$45.99 billion, a slight decrease of 1.3%; and imports reached US$49.98 billion, an increase of 5.9%.

In the first four months of the year, total import and export turnover reached US$345.68 billion, an increase of 24.7% compared to the same period last year. Of this, exports reached US$169.02 billion, an increase of 20.1%; and imports reached US$176.66 billion, an increase of 29.5%.
This development indicates a clear recovery in production and business demand, contributing to boosting trade growth.

In addition, state budget revenue collection achieved positive results. In April 2026 alone, revenue reached VND 46,974 billion, an increase of 1.8% compared to the previous month. Cumulatively, by April 30, 2026, the entire sector had collected VND 166,301 billion, equivalent to 36.9% of the projected target and an increase of 16.5% compared to the same period in 2025.

According to assessments at the conference, the progress of budget revenue collection is closely following the set plan, reflecting the effectiveness of revenue management solutions, control of value, codes, origin of goods, and strengthening efforts to combat revenue loss.

Alongside trade facilitation, the fight against smuggling and trade fraud continues to be intensified. From December 15, 2025 to April 14, 2026, the entire Customs sector detected, seized, and processed 7,029 violations, with an estimated value of infringing goods at VND 6,486.8 billion. Customs authorities initiated legal proceedings in 4 cases and referred 43 cases for prosecution; revenue collected for the state budget reached VND 277.5 billion.

Concluding the conference, the leaders of the Customs Department requested that units continue to closely follow the annual work program, strengthen reforms and modernization, facilitate trade while tightening discipline, and improve control efficiency, contributing to the comprehensive fulfillment of all assigned targets and tasks in 2026.
