Vietnam Post Corporation (Vietnam Post) reported that in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, the volume of postal items processed through its system increased by approximately 25-30% compared to normal days in the last months of the year and was 10-15% higher than the same period last year. On peak days, the entire network recorded nearly 1,000,000 postal items received and processed in a single day.
This increase reflects the bustling demand for shopping, sending goods, and gifts during the Lunar New Year, while also creating significant pressure on postal processing, transportation, and delivery services nationwide.
To ensure the principle of delivering all goods within a shift and within the day, Vietnam Post has increased its delivery workforce, arranged postal workers appropriately for each route, and organized deliveries outside of regular business hours, especially in areas with a high volume of postal items, in order to ensure that goods reach recipients quickly, accurately, and safely.
Regarding postal delivery, Vietnam Post commits that parcels arriving at its delivery offices before February 15, 2026 (28th day of the 12th lunar month) will be delivered to recipients before Tet, no later than 12 noon on February 16, 2026 (29th day of the 12th lunar month).
According to the Tet holiday service plan, central post offices will remain open until February 15, 2026 (28th day of the 12th lunar month) and resume operations on February 19, 2026 (3rd day of Tet). The leaders of Vietnam Post have requested that units proactively adjust opening and closing hours based on the actual situation to ensure maximum service to meet customer needs.
Other postal service offices will flexibly arrange working hours to suit the specific characteristics of each area and local customs, while publicly displaying service schedules and optimizing staffing to improve service quality.
For international postal services, air and sea freight routes will be temporarily suspended according to the Customs agency's work schedule from February 14, 2026 to February 22, 2026. Therefore, international mail during this period may experience delays compared to the published transit time standards.
Vietnam Post recommends that people and businesses proactively send goods and gifts early, especially to addresses such as agencies, organizations, schools, and industrial zones, to ensure that parcels are delivered before the Tet holiday.
