On the afternoon of December 2, the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company informed that the railway had to stop running many trains on the North-South route (from today until December 10) because it was still repairing heavily damaged points due to storms and rain in the South Central region. Many points were running slowly, leading to limited capacity on the route.

To ensure train safety and to suit actual conditions, the railway temporarily stops running trains SE6/SE5 departing from Saigon and Hanoi stations from December 2 to December 10, 2025.

At the same time, the SE22/SE21 trains departing from Saigon and Da Nang stations on December 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and 10, 2025 will be temporarily suspended. Passengers with tickets on the affected trains can return their tickets online on the railway's electronic train ticket website or return their tickets directly at the station, free of charge.

The leader of the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company added that the historic flood in the South Central region has damaged the railway infrastructure stretching from Dieu Tri to Nha Trang, causing traffic congestion from November 17-25, 2025. After the road is opened, the train traffic through the weak points will still be limited to continue repairing and reinforcing the roadbed, gradually restoring train speed to normal, so the railway must adjust the train schedule.

Affected, the railway had to stop running trains, as of December 2, it had announced the suspension of more than 100 passenger trains in the period from November 17 to December 10, 2025 and 65 freight trains. At the same time, free meals were served to passengers on affected trains waiting along the way: more than 35,000 meals, including main and side meals. The number of train tickets returned to passengers was 39,000 tickets, equivalent to nearly 24 billion VND. Estimated damage to passenger and freight trains was nearly 50 billion VND.
