Thousands of fake bird's nest jars without 'bird's nest quality' in Da Nang, two ringleaders arrested

The suspects who set up a company specializing in manufacturing and trading fake bird's nest jars have just been prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Economic Police Department of Da Nang Police.

On September 11, Da Nang Police said that the Economic Police Department had just issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and execute a temporary detention order against Nguyen Thanh Truong (36 years old, residing in Hai Phong) and Nguyen Ngoc Chau (38 years old, residing in Da Nang) to investigate and clarify the act of producing and trading in counterfeit food products (fake bird's nest drinks).

According to the police, in 2023 and 2024, Nguyen Thanh Truong went from Hai Phong to Da Nang to establish two companies specializing in the production and sale of fake bird's nest in jars.

To conceal his actions, Truong asked Nguyen Ngoc Chau and Chau's sister to register and act as legal representatives for these companies.

In fact, all production and business activities are managed and operated by the School.

In early 2024, the School purchased and equipped machinery and equipment and set up a factory to produce bird's nest with headquarters in Dien Ban Dong ward (Da Nang).

During the production process, instead of using real bird's nest ingredients, Truong directed Chau to research and create fake bird's nest fibers that look like real ones.

The entire production process, from mixing ingredients, filling bottles, labeling, packaging... are all done directly by these two people.

From January 2024 to mid-June 2025, some shipments were still produced by Truong's companies using real bird's nests, but in very small quantities.

However, from June 24, 2025, the School directed its subordinates to no longer use real bird's nest as raw material, but all raw materials are fake.

After completion, these fake bird's nest products were widely distributed to retail stores in Da Nang, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong ... thereby deceiving thousands of consumers.

To dismantle this sophisticated fake bird's nest production and trading ring, the Economic Police Department has assigned detective teams to monitor and grasp all methods and tricks of operation of those involved.

On September 11, the Economic Police Department summoned and served decisions to prosecute and temporarily detain Nguyen Thanh Truong and Nguyen Ngoc Chau, and continued to expand the investigation to clarify the entire network and handle related subjects.

Searching the production workshop of Vannest Company Limited (located in Dien Ban Dong ward, Da Nang), the police seized nearly 38,000 bottles of finished bird's nest drinks of 15 different types.

The test results of the 15 types of bird's nest above show that 5 types of bird's nest water do not contain Sialic Acid (the main nutritional component of bird's nest), the remaining 10 types have Sialic Acid content of only 1% compared to the normal quality requirement.
