The Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), said that by March 31, all active subscribers must have information that is in accordance with regulations and matches the information in the national population database. In the next 2 days, subscribers whose information does not match will continue to receive warning messages from the network operator.
A representative of Viettel network said that there are still 1.3 million subscribers whose information does not match with the national database. For VNPT, the number is 1.1 million and for MobiFone , it is 1.4 million.

According to relevant regulations, the network operator will send a message to subscribers who have not met the information requirements 5 times, once a day for 5 consecutive days.
From the date of receipt of the notice, the subscriber has 15 days to update the information before being blocked from one-way communication. If the information is still not updated, after another 15 days, the subscriber will be blocked from two-way communication. 60 days from the date of receipt of the first notice without updating the information, the subscriber's contract will be terminated.
“Ensuring that subscriber information matches information in the national population database will help resolve the issue of SIM cards and mobile subscribers that do not comply with regulations,” said Nguyen Phong Nha, Deputy Director of the Department of Telecommunications, at a meeting on subscriber management on the morning of March 13.

Speaking with Zing , Mr. Nha added that standardizing subscriber information is also a step to significantly reduce spam messages, calls, and scams that take advantage of SIMs with incorrect information.
Representatives of the network operators also noted that the number of subscribers with inconsistent information constantly changes due to the process of updating back and forth with the agency in charge of the national population database at the Ministry of Public Security . For example, with Viettel, the initial comparison results showed that this network operator had up to 8% of subscribers with inconsistent information. However, when the network operator re-examined, 30% of this 8% matched and was confirmed by the Ministry of Public Security to be consistent.
A representative of the VinaPhone network said that if subscribers do not update their information when requested, the upcoming communication blocking by the network operators will affect a large number of customers.
The Director of the Telecommunications Department noted that the March 31 deadline is a challenge for network operators, and called on subscribers to cooperate when receiving notifications from network operators via text messages or calls.
“Most customers comply with state regulations, but some have not really cooperated,” said a MobiFone representative about the difficulties in the information standardization process. Similarly, Viettel said the rate of customers responding to text messages requesting information updates is low.
