(HTV) - Ho Chi Minh City has proactively stockpiled goods worth over 26,000 billion VND to serve the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026. With a majority of goods being Vietnamese products and stable prices, people can rest assured that they can shop adequately for their families.

To ensure a stable supply of goods for the Lunar New Year (Tet) in 2026, Ho Chi Minh City proactively developed plans for stockpiling and regulating the supply of goods well in advance. Anticipating a surge in demand at the end of the year, businesses and distributors actively stockpiled goods. In particular, price-stabilized goods accounted for 23% to 42% of market demand during the Tet month, contributing to stimulating consumer spending, creating a vibrant shopping atmosphere, and helping people prepare for Tet with peace of mind.

Observations at supermarket chains show that Vietnamese goods currently account for 80% to 95% of products, including a wide variety of price-stabilized items across 12 food and beverage groups, 6 educational product groups, and 6 other essential goods groups. Ms. Truong Thi Kim Chi, residing in Binh Tien Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, expressed satisfaction with the price stabilization program due to reasonable prices, diverse products, and guaranteed hygiene and quality. Sharing the same sentiment, Ms. Lu Le Binh, also residing in Binh Tien Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, stated that shopping at supermarkets gives her peace of mind, eliminating worries about making mistakes or overpaying.

At Satramart Vo Van Kiet supermarket, Mr. Nguyen Huy Tuong, the supermarket manager, said that the unit is implementing many promotions with hundreds of discounted items. The total value of goods stocked for Tet (Lunar New Year) at the supermarket reached 862 billion VND, focusing on fresh food and price-stabilized goods. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, this year there are 72 large-scale units participating in the market stabilization program. The total value of goods prepared for the Lunar New Year reached over 26,000 billion VND, of which over 9,000 billion VND are price-stabilized goods.

Specifically, the supply of pork, chicken, and other items has increased by 20% to 30% to ensure sufficient goods for the market.

A new feature this year is the price stabilization program linked to the "Responsible Green Tick". Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Deputy Head of the Trade Management Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, said that the system will prioritize displaying products in prominent locations, attaching easily visible identification labels, and strengthening communication at points of sale to increase consumer trust.
