Vietnamese products dominate the Tet holiday market.

Currently, the market for Tet (Lunar New Year) goods in Dong Nai province is bustling. Many essential products, food items, consumer goods, Tet gift baskets, etc., are attracting consumer interest and are being chosen for purchase.

Wide variety of types and designs

The market for Tet (Lunar New Year) products is entering its peak season. This year's market is quite diverse in terms of types, designs, and prices, catering to both individual consumers and companies placing large orders. Among these, Vietnamese products are a popular choice for gifts due to their improved quality, modern designs, unique marketing strategies, and vibrant Tet colors.

According to Nguyen Quoc Minh, Director of Co.opmart Dong Xoai (in Binh Phuoc ward), to prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year, the supermarket has proactively increased its inventory by 35-40% in strategic product categories, especially essential food items. Notably, over 90% of the goods for Tet are domestically produced, focusing on high-quality Vietnamese products, OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, VietGAP products, and safe agricultural products.

The flexible combination of in-store shopping and online shopping channels allows consumers convenient access to goods across a diverse price range, suitable for various spending needs.

“The supermarket is focusing on implementing promotional programs for more than 2,600 essential products. In addition, the discount program will be divided into phases to suit consumers' Tet shopping needs, and the closer it gets to Tet, the higher the discounts will be. The supermarket is focusing on home improvement, lifestyle, and kitchen products. The first 15 days of the 12th lunar month will focus on beverages, dried foods, cakes, and jams, while the last 15 days will focus on vegetables, fruits, meat, poultry, eggs, rice, beans, and sticky rice…” - Mr. Nguyen Quoc Minh further shared.

Observations at supermarkets such as Co.opmart, GO!, Lotte Mart, MM Mega Market… in the province show that Tet gift baskets containing domestic products, primarily cakes, candies, jams, beer, wine, tea, coffee, dried foods, and packaged foods, are commonly priced from 200,000 to 1,500,000 VND per basket, depending on the type. Many supermarkets are offering significant discounts and promotions for customers purchasing in large quantities.

According to Le Duc Thuan, Director of Lotte Mart Dong Nai (in Long Binh ward), most of the Tet holiday items at the supermarket this year will prioritize essential products for daily life and health-boosting products. The quantity of goods will be balanced to ensure sufficient supply to meet people's shopping needs during the Tet holiday. At the same time, quality control will be strengthened during the peak Tet shopping season. Items prioritized for increased stock include: sausages, melon seeds, sunflower seeds, confectionery, soft drinks, various types of beer... and other necessities.

Include Vietnamese goods and OCOP products in Tet gift baskets.

Retail systems and units in Dong Nai have proactively supplied the market with many Tet gift basket products, including baskets with specialties, Vietnamese goods, and OCOP products that ensure quality, reasonable prices, and increasingly attractive designs and packaging to attract consumers.

Nguyen Ky Hiep, Director of MM Mega Market Bien Hoa (in Tran Bien ward), shared: "The supermarket started selling Tet gift baskets early with a variety of designs, types, and price segments to serve customers. Among them, there are many beautifully designed gift baskets of specialties, agricultural products, and Vietnamese products at reasonable prices. Gift baskets priced from 300,000 to 1 million VND/basket are popular choices for many customers. The supermarket is currently offering special promotions with discounts ranging from 50,000 to 400,000 VND depending on the value of the gift basket order, which is approximately 1.5 to 5 million VND."

Supermarkets are offering discounts of up to 15% on Tet gift baskets, with the price reduction applied directly to the order. Tet gift baskets containing Vietnamese products and local OCOP (One Commune One Product) products are attracting a lot of consumer interest.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Minh added: Co.opmart Dong Xoai supermarket is launching a Tet gift basket collection with 25 models priced from 99,000 to 1,400,000 VND, with customizable gift baskets offering discounts of up to 15% for orders of 5,000,000 VND or more. This year, the Tet gift basket catalog of the Saigon Co.op system in general and at Co.opmart Dong Xoai in particular has been revamped with a green, healthy, and practical spirit, spanning many segments, from affordable Co.op private label gift baskets suitable for caring for workers during Tet, to high-end traditional gift baskets, OCOP products, and green gift baskets with safe Vietnamese fruits and agricultural products.

Ms. Bao Nhien (residing in Trang Dai ward) said: “I have been looking at Tet gift baskets to give to relatives and friends during Tet. This year, many suppliers and supermarket chains are selling gift baskets containing OCOP products and local specialties with eye-catching designs and reasonable prices. This gives customers more choices and helps purely Vietnamese gift baskets enhance their competitiveness against imported gift baskets.”
