On July 26, in Ho Chi Minh City, Alibaba.com announced a 3-year plan to expand its market in Vietnam.

Alibaba.com’s expansion into Vietnam is expected to help bridge the gap between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in manufacturing clusters. Over the next three years, the company will make further investments in emerging manufacturing hubs and increase its workforce in localities such as Binh Duong , Bac Ninh, Long An, Da Nang, and Hai Phong in addition to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Statistics from this platform show that the average number of buyers of Vietnamese products every day on this platform increased by 55% in March 2023 compared to the same period last year.

In addition, the number of Vietnamese products on Alibaba.com also increased by 24%. This shows the increasing demand for Vietnamese goods from foreign markets.

Mr. Roger Luo, Head of Southeast Asia, Alibaba.com, said, Alibaba.com is the leading global business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce platform, where more than 47 million business buyers from over 190 countries search for products in over 40 major categories.

" We believe that the Alibaba.com platform is the best starting point for Vietnamese SMEs to enter the international market. We are excited to take our operations in Vietnam to the next level by investing in emerging manufacturing hubs. We believe that this move will attract more businesses to engage in e-commerce, helping them overcome barriers to global markets," said Mr. Roger Luo.

Mr. Roger Luo added that sourcing trends on Alibaba.com show the growing importance of digital sourcing for global customers, bringing attractive opportunities right in front of Vietnamese SMEs.

He also predicted eight "hot" product categories in the upcoming annual "Super September" promotion. These are smart devices for pets, outdoor gear, smart wearables, sports equipment, healthy lifestyle products and equipment, industrial equipment, infrastructure equipment and renewable energy vehicles.

Electric fan manufacturer Hanh Sanh is an example of a Vietnamese company that has successfully leveraged digital tools and the support of Alibaba.com to make remarkable strides in the global market. Through Alibaba.com, the company has expanded its business operations, reaching five markets around the world , whereas previously, the company only focused on the domestic market.

Hanh Sanh Company, a Vietnamese electric fan manufacturer, has been leveraging the Alibaba.com platform for four years to expand its business internationally. Through Alibaba.com, the company has introduced its exclusive products to international customers and developed its business globally, said Steven To, Deputy CEO of Hanh Sanh Company.

" As a supplier, we believe in the pivotal role of digital in the future of commerce, and place even greater importance on building an e-commerce platform to strengthen our market position. We will continue to place our trust in Alibaba.com and look forward to expanding our cooperation with the local team," said Steven To.
