The report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that after the 20th meeting (November 4), ministries, branches and localities have urgently carried out assigned tasks, most of which have basically been completed and are being deployed on schedule. To date, the whole country has completed 31/66 tasks (an increase of 8 tasks compared to last week), the remaining 35 tasks are still being implemented.

Notably, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed and issued regulations on inter-sectoral coordination on combating IUU fishing, contributing to improving the effectiveness of management and monitoring of fishing vessels. However, some localities are still slow in handling administrative violations.

Reporting to the Central Committee, comrade Duong Mah Tiep said that last week, Gia Lai did not have any fishing boats exceeding the permitted boundary, losing connection for more than 10 days or losing signal for more than 6 hours.

100% of fishing vessels with a length of 15 m or more docked at designated ports, and no cases of unloading seafood outside the port were detected. Authorities increased patrols, controls, and strictly handled violations.

In the coming time, Gia Lai will continue to strictly manage the fleet, especially vessels that are not qualified for exploitation; resolutely not let vessels go to sea in violation of regulations; at the same time, control 100% of fishing vessels entering and leaving ports according to regulations.

Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of ministries, branches and localities in combating IUU fishing. The Prime Minister emphasized that the results of the past week have had many positive changes, reflecting the sense of responsibility and close coordination of all levels and branches.

The Prime Minister requested to continue promoting the spirit of initiative, acting decisively but methodically, bringing about real results; at the same time clearly defining the responsibilities of each individual and unit in implementing tasks.

Localities need to step up propaganda, raise awareness among fishermen and businesses, resolutely prevent and strictly handle violations, aiming to remove the "yellow card" of the European Commission (EC) as soon as possible.
