From November 30 to December 6, the vibrant academic atmosphere spread in Hanoi, Quang Ngai and Ninh Binh when the Russia-Vietnam Cooperation Development Promotion Fund “Tradition and Friendship” in collaboration with HSE University of Economics organized a series of activities to consult on admissions, introduce studying abroad in Russia and two international Olympiads in Mathematics and English for high school students.

For the first time, the “Enlightenment” scholarship program has been launched in Vietnam. This is a project aimed at excellent students, creating opportunities for young people to access advanced education in Russia, one of the countries with the world’s leading tradition of scientific and technical training.

The program attracted more than 700 students from more than 35 high schools across the country. In Quang Ngai, 7 schools registered. In Ninh Binh, 5 schools and the rest were high schools in Hanoi.

The event was coordinated by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation and local Departments of Education and Training. This shows the attention and support of educational management agencies towards the orientation of expanding learning opportunities for Vietnamese students.

Not only a competition, the program is also an opportunity for students to hear and meet directly with representatives of major training institutions in Russia for the first time, opening new doors to knowledge.

Within the framework of the event, the “Tradition and Friendship” Fund awarded 18 “Enlightenment” scholarships to students with excellent academic achievements.

Ms. Pham Thanh Xuan, representative of the Fund, shared: “We hope that the 'Enlightenment' scholarship will become a stepping stone for young Vietnamese people to access quality education in Russia. Thereby, contributing to promoting educational cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in the future.”

For students from provinces outside Hanoi, especially Quang Ngai, this is the first opportunity to access official information about scholarships to study in Russia - something many never thought they could reach.

From the Russian partner side, Ms. Nicheukhina Ksenia, Director of the HSE-Saint Petersburg International Education Center, emphasized that HSE will award 20 full scholarships to the best candidates - including 100% tuition and support level equivalent to Russian students.

According to Ms. Nicheukhina Ksenia, the Olympic competition is held in Vietnam with the desire to find outstanding factors, training a generation of young intellectuals capable of contributing to the development of science and technology in Vietnam in the future.

Not only taking exams and receiving advice, many students also have the opportunity to enter Design classes taught by lecturers from the Faculty of Art and Design of HSE. In a short lesson, they experience modern teaching methods, creative thinking of HSE students, and expand their understanding of new fields of study.

Many students shared their excitement when they first learned in an open discussion and hands-on style, instead of just learning theory.

In Quang Ngai, Dr. Doan Thanh Nhan, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Education and Training, highly appreciated the significance of the program: “For the first time, students in the province have had access to full information about the 'Enlightenment' scholarship and opportunities to study in Russia. We hope to continue to welcome many Russian universities to introduce study opportunities,” Dr. Doan Thanh Nhan emphasized.

The support of the local education sector is the foundation for international educational cooperation programs to reach students in remote areas, creating equality in access to knowledge.

HSE's series of activities in Vietnam has opened up more attractive study abroad options for students, while contributing to strengthening the traditional relationship between Vietnam and Russia in the field of education.

With the first scholarships, international Olympic competitions and experiential classes, many doors of knowledge are being opened for the young generation of Vietnam - a generation with aspirations to study, create and integrate internationally.
