- With an impressive score of Math 10, Physics 9.75, Foreign Language 9.75, total score of 29.5, Hoang Vu Bao Duy, a student of class 12 D1 (school year 2024 - 2025), Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, currently residing in Ky Lua ward, Lang Son province, has excellently become the national runner-up of block A01 in the 2025 High School Graduation Exam. This is the result of a journey full of effort , constantly striving, overcoming all challenges to "touch" Bao Duy's dream.
Our first impression when meeting Hoang Vu Bao Duy was his tall figure and bright eyes, exuding intelligence and cleverness. Sharing with us his feelings when he learned that he was the national runner-up and the province's top student in the A01 group in the recent High School Graduation Exam, Duy said: After completing the exam, I was quite confident with my work. However, when I received the official announcement and learned that I was the national runner-up and the province's top student, I was surprised and happy.
To achieve good results, especially since this is the first year of taking the high school graduation exam under the 2018 General Education program, Duy applied many learning methods, especially participating in many online courses as well as following many knowledge information pages on social networking sites.
In addition, another learning method that Duy also focuses on is studying in groups with friends. Duy shared: Having friends to study with every day is one of the best ways to relieve stress when studying. Having friends present, even through the computer screen, helps me feel less lonely on this journey. Sometimes, just a joke with each other will make the atmosphere happy again, making studying more "pleasant".
Commenting on his friend, Nguyen Nhat Anh, a 12th grade student in D1 (2024-2025 school year), Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, said: Duy is not only a good student but also a very good friend. Duy is sociable, open-minded and always willing to help us in our studies. He often shares good knowledge, unique ways to solve exercises and encourages us when we encounter difficulties.
Before achieving this success, Duy's learning journey also had many unexpected turns. One of them was the decision to change his major and school preferences at the last minute. Duy said: In August 2024, I took the SAT ( Scholastic Assessment Test - a standardized test to assess the abilities of students applying to universities in the US and some other countries) and scored 1,540 points. I thought that with this score, I could be admitted to some of my dream majors. However, the school I wanted to attend no longer recruited students based on SAT scores. As a result, even though my SAT and IELTS scores (a system of tests on English proficiency through 4 skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing) were both high, I still did not meet the requirements for admission to the major I was aiming for. At that time, I was very depressed because I had tried my whole 11th grade just to study for the SAT, it felt like all my efforts were in vain.
However, this "failure" lit a fierce fire in Bao Duy. He was determined to conquer a bigger destination than the original, which was the Computer Science (IT1) major of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, a major that Duy previously felt was very difficult to "reach". For Duy, challenges or failures are never the end, but a strong motivation to push him to try harder. With his relentless efforts and current scores, Duy's admission rate to the Computer Science (IT1) major of Hanoi University of Science and Technology is very high.
Throughout his learning journey, Duy has always received support from his family and teachers. Duy's passion for information technology and computers was ignited from a young age thanks to his father's guidance, helping him to soon get in touch with and nurture his dream of pursuing this field. His parents are not only a great source of encouragement but also create the best conditions, listen to and help Duy overcome difficulties.
Teachers at Chu Van An High School for the Gifted not only impart knowledge but also enthusiastically guide and advise Duy in choosing a career, especially when he is faced with the decision to change his wishes. Ms. Ngo Hong Minh, homeroom teacher of class 12 D1 (school year 2024 - 2025) shared: Duy is an extremely intelligent and passionate student. Duy often spreads positive energy and shares his effective learning methods with his classmates in and out of class, always willing to help and inspire those around him.
With his tireless efforts and spirit of overcoming difficulties, Hoang Vu Bao Duy has had an impressive journey of conquering knowledge, becoming a shining example of will and perseverance in studying.
