Visitors can explore and experience cultural activities at Happy Tet.
According to Nguyen Tran Quang, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, throughout the program, the Happy Tet space truly became a colorful destination, offering music and engaging experiences where tourists and Hanoi residents could immerse themselves in the traditional customs and practices of Vietnamese Tet. Typical activities included: making banh chung (traditional rice cakes), receiving auspicious calligraphy for the new year, the art of carving narcissus flowers, enjoying Tet cuisine from all three regions of Vietnam, experiencing traditional crafts, folk games, and traditional art performances…
The program, featuring nearly 30 experiential activities, attracted approximately 30,000 domestic and international tourists, along with tens of thousands of online check-ins on social media platforms. This contributed to promoting Hanoi's image as a unique, safe, and friendly cultural destination during the Lunar New Year.
"The success of this year's Happy Tet is the result of the close attention and guidance of the city's leaders; the close coordination of departments, agencies, and localities; the active participation of businesses, organizations, artisans, and especially the enthusiastic response of the people and tourists."
"The Happy Tet 2026 program has concluded, but the experiences and emotions of a traditional Tet atmosphere in the heart of the capital will continue to spread, contributing to preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage, customs, and traditional festivals, while creating more attractive tourism products for Hanoi during the New Year," Mr. Nguyen Tran Quang emphasized.
The Happy Tet program is an annual event held during Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), with special significance in recreating the atmosphere of traditional Vietnamese Tet, contributing to promoting and introducing the unique traditional cultural values of the capital and other regions to a wide audience of people, domestic and international tourists, and overseas Vietnamese returning home to celebrate Tet.
Notably, activities such as showcasing traditional Tet (Vietnamese New Year) feasts, narcissus flower carving, tea ceremony, calligraphy, making banh chung (traditional rice cakes), Tet jam making, and lotus flower arrangements were held at the recreated house at 87 Ma May Street. In addition, fun activities like throwing the ball, tug-of-war, swinging, human chess, bamboo dancing, making clay figurines, and the "Happy Tet Passport" program, along with experiencing the digital age of Tet with the "Digital Memory Box" - Touch to discover heritage, and 4.0 lucky money, offered visitors the opportunity to directly immerse themselves in Vietnamese Tet culture in a familiar, vibrant, and modern way.

The delegates experienced the cultures of various ethnic groups.
Happy Tet 2026 took place with the participation of over 100 stalls, 20 artisans; and more than 100 participating and supporting units including businesses, tourism and culinary establishments, tourist areas, tourist attractions, craft villages, universities; and businesses selling products serving tourism in the capital city.
Happy Tet 2026 has created a highlight for Hanoi's tourism promotion activities during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, contributing to raising awareness and national pride among the people and educating the younger generation in preserving and protecting traditional cultural values; and developing community-based and sustainable tourism models.
This will reaffirm the image of Hanoi as a safe, friendly, and culturally rich destination, while also creating momentum to stimulate tourism demand in early 2026.
