On December 3, in Hau Giang province, a discussion took place on the role of agricultural tourism and opportunities for Long My town to find solutions for farmers to develop agricultural tourism associated with sustainable OCOP products.
This is the main activity within the framework of the Tourism Festival - OCOP products of Long My town, Hau Giang.
Tourism is one of the four pillars contributing to socio-economic development in Hau Giang.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dien, Chairman of Long My Town People's Committee, said that Hau Giang is endowed by nature with many unique products, has a long-standing historical and cultural space, and the people here are also very friendly.
The locality also considers tourism as one of the four pillars contributing to socio-economic development, so the province has invested a lot in and supported localities in developing tourism in general and agricultural tourism in particular.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dien, the province's agricultural tourism products have many preferential capital support policies, in which the province also invests in localities to develop community tourism in the direction of houses with numbers, roads with flowers and improving the qualifications of staff.

Houses will be numbered and instructed to maintain, preserve and develop the 3-room house style of the Southern people. In front of the houses, priority will be given to planting flowers and typical natural landscapes.
At the seminar, many travel businesses and experts in the tourism industry contributed ideas to build unique tourism products for the province in general and My Long town in particular.
Specifically, Long My town has more than 30 OCOP products that meet 3-4 star standards, such as: Hong Hoa ham, Hong Thi Xieu Luy sausage, 9 Thuy sponge cake and kumquat jam, Long My town's melon products...

"However, turning these products into products serving the tourism industry requires time and more specific solutions," experts said.
Tourism expert Phan Yen Ly said that the tourism products available in Long My town such as straight new rural roads, ornamental plants planted, cared for and pruned by farmers have created a unique agricultural tourism product.
In addition, there are prominent fence roads leading to the countryside, forming photo tours, combining experiences of making pancakes and weaving water hyacinth at families.
OCOP standard melon products are enjoyed by tourists.
Mr. Tran Quang Duy, Director of Penguin Travel Service Joint Stock Company, said that in order for the locality to develop sustainable agricultural products, it is necessary to first take advantage of available agricultural products in the locality, which will save initial investment costs. When tourism develops, farmers will have more conditions and funds to invest systematically on a larger scale to welcome more visitors.
"To attract tourists, localities should promote product communication activities, especially among young people," said Mr. Duy.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hau Giang, along with the general recovery of Vietnam tourism, Hau Giang tourism has gradually improved in recent years.
Hau Giang has achieved remarkable results. The total number of tourists visiting the province in 2022 is estimated at 390,000 (an increase of 166% compared to 2021, reaching 111% of the 2022 plan).
Hau Giang tourism industry has gradually implemented the proposed contents for the tourism system planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045, as required by the General Department of Tourism.
