On the morning of December 15th, leaders of the Ministry of Construction conducted a final inspection of the Long Thanh airport construction site (Dong Nai province) before welcoming the first test flight that afternoon.
This morning, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), and Vietnam Airlines will report to the ministry's leadership on the plan to launch the first flight.

According to the plan, the first flight to land at Long Thanh Airport will use a wide-body Boeing 787-9 aircraft operated by Vietnam Airlines. Flight number VN5001 will depart from Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) at 3 PM and land at Long Thanh Airport at 3:40 PM on December 15th.
This will also be the first aircraft to take off from Long Thanh Airport at 6 PM on the same day, with flight number VN5002. The aircraft will return to Tan Son Nhat Airport at 6:40 PM. The flight will be operated using a wide-body Boeing 787-9 aircraft, registration number VN-A863.

On the afternoon of December 15th, the VATM air traffic control team will be fully present at the Long Thanh air traffic control tower to coordinate the first flight's landing. According to VATM leaders, the December 15th flight is important for a final assessment of preparations for the official flight on December 19th.
Previously, Air Traffic Management Engineering Company Limited (ATTECH) completed the calibration flight procedure at Long Thanh Airport on October 30th. The flight crew concluded that all air traffic control equipment at the airport met or exceeded international standards.
However, during the calibration flight, the aircraft did not perform any takeoff or landing maneuvers on the Long Thanh airport runway. Therefore, the flight on December 15th will be the first time the aircraft has landed and taken off at the airport.
