On the evening of December 5, the 5th annual VinFuture Global Science and Technology Awards Ceremony will take place at the Hoan Kiem Theater (Hanoi) and will be broadcast live on VTV1 - Vietnam Television, and livestreamed on many social networking platforms.
The winners of the million-dollar prizes will be announced in a moment watched by the global scientific community. The VinFuture Prize is worth $3 million USD and three Special Prizes for female scientists, scientists from developing countries, and scientists researching new fields, each worth $500,000 USD.
The quality of this year's nominations is truly outstanding.
This year, VinFuture received more than 1,700 applications from over 70 countries and territories - 2.8 times more than season 1 - demonstrating the award's growing prestige and influence after half a decade of development. The honored works are the crystallization of pioneering thinking, of persistent efforts to overcome challenges and of the aspiration to use science to serve life.
Professor Ana Belén Elgoyhen, University of Buenos Aires, National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (Argentina) came to VinFuture for the first time as a member of the VinFuture Prize Preliminary Jury. Expressing her delight at the experience, the Professor said that the prize covers many different fields, not just her own field of research. Thanks to that, she felt she learned a lot from the other members of the jury.

Commenting on this year's nominations, the Professor said: "The quality of this year's nominations is truly outstanding, I would say outstanding, astonishing. Making the decision and selecting a shortlist of about 5 to 10 nominations to present to the Prize Council was extremely difficult."
She also added that this is not only a difficulty for the Council this year. Looking at the list of award winners, it can be seen that every year there are very high quality nominations. This is a prestigious award, and more and more research centers and large scholars in scientific powers such as the US and Europe are interested in the award.
Honored at VinFuture 2022, this time back, Professor Pamela Christine, University of California, Davis (USA) has a different role, as a member of the VinFuture Prize Council.

She shared, “When I received the award in 2022, I was extremely excited and really surprised. When I came to Vietnam and witnessed the organization of the Organizing Committee, I felt very impressed and amazed, because everyone worked so hard and dedicated to creating such a wonderful event.
This time, as a member of the Award Council, she feels very happy and proud to be the one to review and evaluate many nominations.
After a period of serious work and much debate, Professor Pamela Christine revealed that choosing the winners of the awards was a challenge because the nominations were truly excellent: "We have three councils to screen, review, and then select the winners of this year's awards. Sometimes we see a group of authors with very impressive and very good works, but we still need to carefully check whether they are really suitable and fully meet the criteria of the award or not; whether those studies focus on solving fundamental scientific problems or not.
We think very carefully about who makes the fundamental discoveries and how the applications are developed, how many people are needed to take basic science further and apply it to practice. These are the criteria we aim for."

She also expressed her happiness in being able to contribute to selecting the award winners and meeting the authors directly. "I feel extremely happy, happy for them too, because I was in the same position as them and know how that feels. The winners of the selected awards are also extremely excellent, and we will know the results soon," she said.
Professor Dang Van Chi, member of the VinFuture Prize Council, revealed: “When the names of this year’s winners are announced, we will see that VinFuture has once again chosen the right person to entrust its gold to. In particular, this year’s Main Prize is a research project that has an impact on a very large population scale around the world.”

Impressive season 5 awards night
Throughout the Award Ceremony, VinFuture 2025's message of "Together we grow - Together we prosper" will be told in the language of contemporary art, combined with Vietnamese identity. The carefully prepared performances will recreate VinFuture's 5-year journey: from the origin of aspiration to global impact.
Alongside the scientific stars, the VinFuture Awards 2025 stage will feature Alicia Keys - a global music icon, owner of 17 prestigious Grammy gold statues. Her music carries a strong, steadfast and hopeful spirit, in harmony with the message "Together we rise - Together we prosper" of this year's awards season and as a tribute to scientists and innovators who are persistently creating a progressive life for humanity.

Meanwhile, Intervision 2025 champion Duc Phuc, in his first appearance, will bring a performance combining the beauty of national culture with modern music, portraying a Vietnam rich in identity and growing strongly on the journey of integration.
After the first 4 seasons, 4 groups of scientists, after being honored on the VinFuture stage, continued to be named at the Nobel Prize. This is considered a testament to the outstanding vision of the first international award founded by Vietnamese people, and at the same time, reflects the worthy recognition for research that has a profound impact on humanity.
In its 5th season, VinFuture affirms the belief that sustainable development of the planet can only be achieved when knowledge is shared, and science and technology become catalysts to help countries progress together. The stories that outstanding scientists bring to VinFuture 2025, about AI, medicine, agriculture, new technology... not only expand knowledge but also evoke many thoughts about the development directions of humanity in the next decade.
