Hekii transforms with "Magnolia Fragrance" at Challenge the Limits

Episode 13 of Challenge the Limits 2025 witnessed a tense competition in the second semi-final round between three producers Bao Kun, Chi Tam and Melyd K. With the topic requiring breakthroughs in harmony and vocals, the competition night recorded the transformations of young singers. Among them, the performance "Hương ngọc lan" by Hekii (team Melyd K) became a highlight thanks to his civilized and emotional way of handling the song.

Known for her clear voice, Hekii chose to refresh the classic hit with a Gen Z remix - a bit mischievous but still romantic. Producer Melyd K said he added rhythmic elements to suit the singer's age, creating a musical space that is both strange and familiar.

This venture has brought positive results. Producer Chi Tam admitted that his “heart was beating fast” at the cuteness of his junior, and at the same time highly appreciated Melyd K’s ability to update trends. Judge Nguyen Vu commented that Hekii was smart when choosing to sing in a whispering, subtle way. He appreciated the fact that the female singer understood her voice well to follow the arrangement instead of showing off unnecessary techniques.

Sharing the same opinion, musician Nguyen Van Chung praised Hekii's carefree singing style, which helped him maintain his emotions. However, the male judge also frankly commented on the high note at the end of the song. According to him, showing off her voice at the end was unnecessary, sometimes interrupting the seamless flow of emotions that she had built from the beginning. However, the performance was still considered one of the most successful performances of the night.

In contrast to Hekii's gentleness was the "explosive" performance of Lam Ngoc Trong (team Chi Tam) with the song "Sac mau". With the spirit of Japanese cinematic anime, the male singer expressed the freedom and openness of "challenging limits". However, his "flattering" pronunciation made judge Nguyen Vu worry about the effectiveness if overused. However, this novelty helped Lam Ngoc Trong score points in terms of entertainment, bringing him a total score of 19.5 - tied for first place with Hekii.

Performing the ballad “Gập nhung khong o lai”, former Zero9 member - Zane (Bao Kun’s team) impressed with the haunting a cappella opening after the previous incident of losing his voice. However, possessing such a strong voice, Zane sometimes overshadowed Bao Kun’s arrangement. Judge Nguyen Van Chung commented that Zane sang well but could not fully immerse himself in the character to push the emotions to a climax. As a result, Zane received 19 points, ranking behind the other two competitors.
