By the end of 2025, the whole country will have 3,345km of expressways.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Regarding the goal of completing 3,000km of expressways in 2025, the Ministry of Construction stated that it is expected that by the end of 2025, 3,803km will be completed (including 3,345km of main expressway routes and 458km of access roads).

On the morning of December 9th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh , Head of the State Steering Committee for National Key Projects and Projects in the Transport Sector, chaired the 22nd meeting of the Steering Committee.

With only 20 days remaining in 2025 and just 10 days until December 19th, and many projects and constructions still having a large volume of work to be completed, the Prime Minister requested ministries, sectors, and localities to proactively urge, inspect, and resolve difficulties and obstacles related to land, construction materials, etc., in the quickest, most timely, and most effective way.

In addition, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for regular inspections and supervision to prevent corruption, negative practices, and waste; to strictly handle violations and those who perform poorly, and to reward and encourage those who perform well, especially the engineers and workers who have toiled tirelessly on the construction sites.

Regarding key tasks and solutions for the coming period, the Prime Minister requested the completion of the goal of putting into operation at least 3,000km of expressways and approximately 1,700km of coastal roads.

For phase 1 of the Long Thanh International Airport project, ministries, agencies, and managing bodies of component projects, especially the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), need to urgently review remaining tasks, develop specific and detailed plans to ensure technical flight operations on December 19th, and continue to complete construction items and organize trial operations to ensure commercial operation in early 2026.

Regarding preparations for the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies on December 19th, the Prime Minister requested relevant entities to review and register additional projects, ensuring that all procedures and conditions for inauguration and groundbreaking ceremonies are met according to regulations.

To expedite the investment preparation procedures for projects to serve as the basis for implementation in the 2026-2030 period, the Prime Minister requested the relevant agencies to urgently prepare and submit for approval the investment policies for the Bac Kan - Cao Bang , Hoa Binh - Moc Chau (km0-km19), Cam Lo - Lao Bao, and Quang Ngai - Kon Tum projects.

The head of the government noted the need to expedite investment procedures and implement land clearance for the projects in Bac Kan - Cao Bang, Hoa Binh - Moc Chau (km0-km19), Cam Lo - Lao Bao, Vinh - Thanh Thuy, Quang Ngai - Kon Tum, the expansion of the Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh expressway, and the road connecting to Gia Binh airport.

Local authorities will base their decisions on awarding contracts through direct negotiation, in accordance with the Prime Minister's required timelines and relevant regulations on contractor selection, to ensure the set deadlines are met.

For transitional projects scheduled for completion in 2026, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Construction and local authorities to direct investors to mobilize personnel, machinery, and equipment, organize construction, and ensure timely completion.

According to a report by the Ministry of Construction, many projects under the Steering Committee, such as the Bai Vot - Cam Lo expressway, the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway, and the Tan Son Nhat T3 passenger terminal, have been completed ahead of schedule, contributing to socio-economic development and the target of over 8% growth in 2025.

Regarding the target of completing 3,000km of expressways by 2025, the Ministry of Construction stated that it is expected to complete 3,803km by the end of 2025 (including 3,345km of main expressway routes and 458km of access roads).

It is expected that on December 19th, 3,513km of expressways (including 3,188km of main routes and 325km of access roads) will be completed and opened for technical traffic; at the same time, 1,700km of coastal roads will be completed, and Long Thanh International Airport will complete its component projects to begin technical flight operations.

In addition, from 2021 to 2025, the Ministry of Construction completed 59 national highway projects with a total length of 1,586km, with 21 projects totaling 456km completed in 2025 alone.

Regarding preparations for the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies of construction projects on December 19th, the Ministry of Construction announced that as of December 8th, it had compiled a list of 245 projects and works across 34 provinces and cities, with a total investment of over 1.3 trillion VND.
