ADGSOM is ASEAN's senior official-level cooperation mechanism in the digital field, responsible for coordinating, reviewing, and preparing content for the ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting (ADGMIN), and monitoring and promoting the implementation of digital cooperation programs and initiatives in the region.
At the Conference, the Heads of Delegation exchanged and updated on the progress of implementing priority cooperation contents, focusing on strengthening coordination and harmonization of digital policies among ASEAN member states; building frameworks, principles and guidelines for regional cooperation, referencing international practices; narrowing the digital divide between countries and population groups in ASEAN; promoting innovation and the application of emerging technologies; enhancing the safety, security and resilience of the ASEAN digital space; and developing digital human resources and digital skills, especially for youth and young workers.
Within the framework of the Conference, meetings of the Joint Working Groups and the Governing Council were held to review the results of the technical cooperation activities and discuss proposals and initiatives for the next phase.
One of the key areas of focus is the review of the ASEAN Digital Masterplan (ADM) 2025, which acknowledges positive progress in realizing the vision of building a common digital ecosystem for the region, while also laying the groundwork for the ADM for the 2026-2030 period, aiming to ensure interoperability, synchronization, and sustainability in the implementation of digital initiatives at the regional level.
In addition, the Conference also discussed and agreed on a number of important technical contents, documents, and recommendations to be submitted to the ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting for consideration, thereby contributing to ensuring consistency, coherence, and effectiveness in the decision-making process at the ministerial level.
The results and recommendations of the 6th ADGSOM Meeting will be compiled and submitted to the 6th ADGMIN Meeting for consideration and decision-making on directions and policies to promote ASEAN's digital agenda in the coming period.
Notably, ADGSOM also held meetings with ASEAN's digital dialogue partners to exchange views on cooperation, review the progress of existing programs and projects, and discuss future cooperation directions and proposals.
The parties emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination and ensuring complementarity between ASEAN initiatives and partners, with a view to promoting substantive, effective cooperation aligned with ASEAN's priorities in the fields of information technology, telecommunications, and digital transformation.
