With the desire to ensure full rights and legitimate interests for children in the highland communes, in recent times, the departments, organizations, socio -political organizations and highland localities of the province have implemented many models of child care and education, contributing to improving children's nutrition and physical strength, helping children develop comprehensively in terms of physical and mental health. A typical example is the model "Group of parents caring for and educating children for comprehensive development" in Quang Tan commune. The model has the participation of 30 members, including heads of the Women's Association of the village, grandparents, parents who directly raise and care for children from villages in the commune. The model meets once a quarter at the commune cultural house and integrates activities into village meetings. The model aims to create conditions for mothers and caregivers of children aged 0-6 to participate in activities, exchange, share, update and improve knowledge and skills on scientific child care and nurturing, ensuring children develop the best intelligence and physical strength; raise awareness and change the behavior of mothers, families, people and communities about health care, improving nutrition and physical strength for children. Along with the concentrated activities at the commune cultural house, the Women's Union of Quang Tan commune also promotes propaganda work to villages and residential areas with a large number of ethnic minorities.
Another model that has been implemented quite effectively is the "Child Care and Education" Club model, also in Quang Tan commune. Participating in the model, members are informed and disseminated about policies and laws, and share experiences and skills to properly care for and educate children. The content of activities is selected and organized in the most familiar way, such as: Consulting on nutritious foods for children of all ages, or managing time to be able to play and study with children; solving some common behavioral situations between parents and children, helping children develop social skills.

With the connection of the Commune Women's Union, members also closely coordinate with the Commune Health Stations, carry out propaganda, consultation, and guidance for mothers with children under 5 years old on how to care for, feed, and supplement micronutrients for children. The work of preventing and combating child malnutrition is regularly implemented twice a year, weighing and measuring children and organizing vitamin A and deworming... Thanks to that, the rate of malnutrition for children under 5 years old in Quang An commune in recent years has decreased significantly.
To take care of children's education, many schools have been creative in implementing the model of "Children's vegetable garden" and "Safe kitchen", both serving meals directly to students and educating life skills, labor responsibility and understanding of clean food for students in mountainous areas. Thanks to that, the physical condition, height, weight and health of ethnic minority students have changed positively, significantly reducing the situation of malnutrition in schools.
Implementing the model of "Green vegetable garden for children", teachers at Yen Than school (Dien Xa Kindergarten) have taken advantage of empty spaces in the school yard to grow seasonal green vegetables such as water spinach, mustard greens, cabbage, amaranth... to serve meals for students. Since having a green vegetable garden, the school has saved a part of the cost, at the same time having clean food with clear origin, contributing to providing nutritious meals for children. It is worth mentioning that the vegetable garden is also a place where children can freely experience activities such as watering plants, identifying and harvesting vegetables, tubers, fruits, etc. Comrade Be Thu Thuy, Principal of Dien Xa Kindergarten, said: In the area, the proportion of ethnic minority students accounts for 65%, mainly Dao, San Chi and Tay ethnic groups, the economic conditions of parents still have certain difficulties, so we make the most of all conditions to provide boarding meals to ensure the nutritional regime for children to develop fully. In addition, the school also calls on benefactors to support and provide fresh milk for students. At the same time, coordinate with Dien Xa Commune Health Station to periodically check children's health twice a year.
Together with all levels and sectors in enhancing health care and education for children, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has implemented many activities to take care of health, nutrition and education for children. The Women's Union has implemented the Project "Propaganda and mobilization to improve nutrition and physical strength for children in highland, ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Quang Ninh province for the period 2022 - 2025". From 2023 - 2025, through the Project, the Women's Union has established 21 models of "Child Care and Education", 100% of children in the model have books to monitor height and weight; organized 118 training classes, 8 competitions, and issued 14,000 leaflets.
With effective and creative methods suitable for each village and each subject in the propaganda, implementation of activities and models of child care and education in the highland communes, the awareness of the community in caring for and raising children has gradually changed and raised. The models also bring positive social effects, attracting the attention of all levels, sectors, localities and people in coordinating child care and education, thereby creating conditions for ethnic minority women and children in the province to develop comprehensively, have a better and more equal life.
