Production efficiency on the model field

Established for more than 10 years, localities in the province are currently maintaining over 70 model fields with a total area of nearly 2,000 hectares. The efficiency of the model fields is 1.5 times higher than the total production value, contributing to promoting the application of science and technology and mechanization in the fields.

The model fields are built on a large scale, with an area of 30 hectares or more per field (provincial-scale fields). Production on model fields is built to link 3 crops per year (spring rice crop, summer-autumn crop and winter crop), aiming to link product consumption with businesses. Rice production on model fields requires sowing the same variety, same tea, same care and fertilization process. In winter crop production, no more than 3 types of commercial crops are planted per field. Every year, when building production plans, localities set a goal of maintaining and promoting efficiency on the model field area.

Through evaluation, the model fields all met the criteria of ensuring area, production organization of the same variety, same tea, same care process. Most of the fields are planted with commercial rice varieties that are popular in the market, such as: Bac Thom No. 7, ND502, VNR20, DV108, KD18... Many localities signed contracts with enterprises to produce and purchase products (mainly fresh rice) right at the edge of the fields for people in the model fields. In the 2023 crop season, the total amount of rice consumed under the contract was 6,631 tons, equal to 50.5% of the total rice output of the model fields in the province.

The model field at Don Xa Agricultural Service Cooperative (Binh Luc) was planned and built to ensure convenient internal traffic, irrigation and drainage for production. The model field was signed by the Board of Directors of the Agricultural Service Cooperative to produce purebred rice seeds with Nam Duong Company Limited (Dong Van Industrial Park - Duy Tien town). According to the contract, the enterprise supplies super purebred rice seeds, provides technical guidance on production and purchases all fresh rice products immediately after harvest for the people; the purchase price for each crop is always higher than the price of the same type of rice on the market. In the locality, since the model field was established, rice has truly become a commodity for which enterprises have signed contracts to produce and consume products, helping to increase value and efficiency...

The model fields help solve the problem of fragmented land, making it easier to implement new production models in the industry. From the effectiveness of the model fields, many models of rice and commercial crop production have been expanded; the promotion of the application of scientific and technical advances, and the introduction of synchronous mechanization into production stages will be replicated; contributing to increasing the value, efficiency and income for people.

Building model fields also creates conditions for implementing models of applying fertilizers, new rice varieties and crops, applying machinery to production areas and aiming to replicate to other areas. The implementation of the Project "Application of some new crop varieties mainly in the direction of commodity production, concentrated scale associated with product consumption markets in the period 2017 - 2020" is mostly carried out on model fields of localities. Through implementation, the project selected a total of 17 new varieties evaluated for yield, quality and value for replication. In 2021, the replication program according to the project, with a total area of 5,300 hectares, including: 2,600 hectares of rice, 200 hectares of squash, 700 hectares of pumpkin and cucumber, 100 hectares of grass. Many new crop varieties are currently being replicated for mass production in many localities in the province. In the model fields, in recent years, localities are promoting the application of mechanical machinery in the sowing and planting stage.

For example, in Tuong Linh commune (Kim Bang), the machine transplanting method has become the main method, accounting for more than 70% of the total cultivated area. In the beginning, when applying the machine transplanting method, Tuong Linh Agricultural Service Cooperative chose to deploy it on a model field area of 30 hectares. This is also an area that links the production of purebred rice varieties with enterprises. The transplanting machine operates on the rice field area to help free up labor, shorten the crop season, ensuring favorable fields for the care, growth, and development of rice plants, ensuring the quality of the seeds... From the success of the machine transplanting method, people in the commune have widely applied it to mass production. In the commune, there are currently 2 tray seeding and machine transplanting service teams with a total of 5 motor transplanters responsible for the entire machine-transplanted rice area in the locality.

Realizing the effectiveness of the model field construction program, up to now, localities in the province have maintained and developed the model field well, such as: Binh Luc district 20 model fields, Kim Bang 18 model fields, Ly Nhan 13 model fields... Particularly, Nhan My commune (Ly Nhan) is maintaining the production of 9 model fields, including: 2 fields with a scale of 30 ha/field and 7 fields with a scale of 7 - 15 ha/field.
