Although the press informed the media about the dialogue and explanation session with students about the financial support for the A80 festival at 2:00 p.m. on December 1, the Hanoi College of Tourism held a meeting at 11:00 a.m. The school leaders said that due to the hot issue, the meeting was held earlier than expected.

Principal of Hanoi College of Tourism Pham Van Long talks with students

At the beginning of the dialogue, Mr. Pham Van Long, Principal of Hanoi College of Tourism, encouraged students to ask directly and clearly to get answers. The school's principal affirmed that his and the school's direction is to put the interests of students first. During the implementation process, the school did not inform students in a timely manner. Today, the school provided all information and questions from students. Mr. Pham Van Long also said that the fact that students only received 940,000 VND in the first payment was a "very big oversight of the school" in the implementation stage.

Responding to a female student's question about the official document stating that the payment for each A80 training session was 80,000 VND, not 60,000 VND as the students received, Mr. Pham Van Long said that initially , the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed that each training session be paid 80,000 VND, but later only 60,000 VND/session was approved.

The Principal of Hanoi College of Tourism said that this was an approval for all schools participating in this event, but it could be because the school did not inform the students in time. Mr. Pham Van Long said that the school's students participated in the A80 program for a total of 22 sessions.

Students ask questions to the school

The policy regime announced by Mr. Long is as follows: 17 practice sessions, students receive 60,000 VND/session; 3 preliminary and final rehearsal sessions receive 180,000 VND/session and 2 official sessions receive 200,000 VND/session. The total amount of money spent for students participating in these 3 items is 1,960,000 VND.

Thus, students who participate in all 17 practice sessions and 5 sessions from practice to the grand ceremony will receive 1.96 million. This amount minus 440,000 VND for meals for 11 days is 1.52 million.

When students asked why the amount of money was not clearly stated on the receipt when signing it, Mr. Long said: "Teachers think very simply that when students receive money, they write the amount of money to confirm the amount they receive through their handwriting. However, teachers do not explain this, so students consider it a blank signature. The school would like to learn from this issue deeply." The principal of Hanoi College of Tourism affirmed that there was no blank signature because to complete the payment of money, there are many other documents and papers.

Another student expressed his concern, why did the school initially take the students' account numbers but then pay cash? The principal of Hanoi College of Tourism explained that the number of students participating in the training for the A80 ceremony was nearly 1,000, the school had advanced money for meals, so if they transferred money, the students would have to pay back the advance to the school. Therefore, to make it more convenient for the students, the school paid cash. The amount of money the students received was 1,960,000 VND, 11 days was 440,000 VND for meals. "Thus, the students actually received 1,520,000 VND" - Mr. Long said.

Regarding the question of why the school did not inform about the double payment, Mr. Long said that "this was an oversight". The payment plan was signed on November 24, during his time working abroad, the Student Affairs Department "did not implement it specifically". Mr. Long emphasized: "This was the school's oversight in providing incomplete information to students".

According to the Principal of Hanoi College of Tourism, the reason the school divided the allowance into two installments was to save a portion for the student honor ceremony, which was given out with the certificates.

At the dialogue, Mr. Pham Van Long also publicly disclosed his personal phone number, calling on students to contact him directly if they had any problems and committed to resolving them within 12 hours.

After listening to the principal's explanation, the students had no further comments. The dialogue ended with a consensus on organizing rewards for students with outstanding achievements during the support process.
