Water was lapping onto the sidewalk of Chau Thuong Van Street, where many tourists came to eat, drink, and enjoy the view.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An ward, said that the local authorities advise people not to organize boat tours for tourists to see the ancient town during the flood season, and only to rescue tourists who are stranded in flooded areas.

According to Mr. Cuong, currently, due to customer demand, many locals are using boats to provide transportation. However, these boats only transport passengers along flooded sections of roads in the center of the old town, and there is no strong current.

Floodwaters began rising on the morning of November 17th, causing severe flooding in many areas around the Hoai River. Some shops there had to pack up their belongings and temporarily close.
