What is the current status of the My Dinh stadium's grass surface being renovated and repaired? My Dinh Stadium was put into use in 2003 (serving the 22nd SEA Games). After many years of operation, the old grass layer and degraded ground have now been removed to completely overcome the problem of field surface quality. The comprehensive renovation project of My Dinh Stadium has a total budget of about 10 billion VND from the state budget, divided into two phases. In which, phase 1 with 8 billion VND will focus on handling the foundation (excavation and renewal), expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The second phase, with a budget of 2 billion VND, will be dedicated to the grass carpet project. It is expected that by February 2026, My Dinh Stadium will be covered with Zeon Zoysia - a high-class grass variety currently used at famous Premier League stadiums such as Old Trafford or Anfield.
The last time My Dinh Stadium was upgraded was at the end of 2021 to prepare for the 31st SEA Games (May 2022).
The seats in the stadium are painted and damaged parts are replaced to ensure safety and aesthetics, serving the audience better.
The My Dinh Stadium renovation project has officially begun after a series of recent events. According to the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the goal is to complete it in 3 months, depending on weather conditions for the new grass to grow best. This is considered a turning point to help this "holy land" regenerate, worthy of being an important cultural and sports face of the country. Image of My Dinh National Stadium in November 2025
