The statement by strategist Guardiola was made after Man City won a dramatic 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Etihad Stadium in the early morning of April 23 in round 34 of the Premier League.
Matheus Nunes' late goal in the 90+4 minute helped Man City move up to third in the table and move one step closer to securing a place in next season's Champions League.
Although Man City still have a chance to end the season with a title after reaching the FA Cup semi-finals, coach Guardiola stressed that success for him is only defined by stability in the Premier League, not cup titles.
"This season has been bad. That will not change in the last month and a half," the Spaniard told Sky Sports after the match against Villa.
"The reality is that what makes you feel the season is good is the Premier League, not the Champions League or the FA Cup. It's the consistency in the Premier League and we haven't achieved that," he added.
The Man City manager also explained his emotional celebration after Nunes' goal, saying his team were not used to winning in the last minutes like Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp or Arsenal under Mikel Arteta.
Finally, coach Guardiola admitted his joy after the victory: "I was very happy, I have to admit that. If you enter the world of football, you will experience disappointments but there are always beautiful moments."
Although he assessed the overall season as bad, he still acknowledged the efforts and performances of his students in recent difficult matches.
