According to sources in Spanish and Portuguese media, the 63-year-old Portuguese strategist has reached an agreement to return as head coach of Real Madrid.
On his personal Twitter page, Fabrizio Romano, one of the world's most reputable transfer news experts, also used the familiar phrase "Here we go" to confirm the absolute accuracy of the deal.
The Italian journalist added: “Jose Mourinho will return to Real Madrid. Let's get started. All terms have been agreed between Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid. Now, both sides are just waiting to complete the paperwork and sign the final documents.”
To realize their determination to bring "The Special One" back, the Los Blancos management is reportedly willing to spend up to 7 million euros to release him from his contract with Benfica before its expiration.
In the Portuguese national championship last season, coach Mourinho helped Benfica maintain an impressive unbeaten record with 23 wins and 11 draws; however, the team only finished in third place overall, behind Sporting Lisbon and Porto.
Before finalizing the Mourinho deal, Real Madrid were rumored to have contacted a number of other renowned strategists including Jurgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino, Julian Nagelsmann, Didier Deschamps, and Massimiliano Allegri.
However, Spanish media claim that only the former Chelsea manager was involved in the official negotiations with the Royal Club.
According to the plan, immediately after Real Madrid concludes their final match against Athletic Bilbao on May 24th, Coach Mourinho will fly to Madrid to officially take over the hot seat.

Mourinho's return to Madrid is actually not a big surprise to fans, as rumors have been circulating for some time now.
Currently, Real Madrid is mired in crisis due to various reasons, particularly complex internal conflicts. The team's dressing room is deeply divided by factions, the latest example being the fight between stars Valverde and Tchouameni. Furthermore, big stars like Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. possess strong egos and rarely find common ground.
In that context, President Florentino Perez saw Jose Mourinho as the only name with enough weight, toughness, and strong personality to restore order in the dressing room and carry out a complete rebuilding.
In the past, the period from 2010 to 2013 under Mourinho's leadership was considered one of the most glorious eras for Real Madrid. He helped Los Blancos win the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Particularly in the 2011-2012 season, the Portuguese strategist established the historic "100-Point Era" in the domestic league with an unprecedented goal-scoring record, shattering the seemingly invincible dominance of their arch-rival Barcelona at their peak.
Even though he left Bernabeu more than 10 years ago, he still receives great respect from the club's hierarchy and the Madridistas.
However, this return is predicted to be fraught with challenges. "The Special One" himself has set extremely firm conditions for the club's management. The Athletic revealed that Mourinho will not tolerate any interference from players in professional matters, especially regarding the right to choose the starting lineup.
In addition, Mourinho requested that the club's management allow him to fully concentrate on coaching, professional duties, and tactical press conferences, instead of having to shoulder the responsibilities of being the club's media representative.
