After the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, coach Kim Sang Sik scouted players and recruited them for the Vietnamese national team in several V-League matches before returning to South Korea to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) with his family. The strategist, born in 1976, enjoyed a complete Tet holiday with his wife and children and is expected to return to Vietnam to work at the end of February.
Last year, coach Kim Sang Sik brought his wife and children to Vietnam for a vacation , where they enjoyed delicious dishes like pho, bun cha, and banh chung during the Tet holiday. This was the first Tet holiday that the Korean coach experienced the atmosphere and many beautiful sights of the S-shaped country.

This year's Lunar New Year continues to be very meaningful for Coach Kim Sang Sik, as he has achieved many successes with Vietnamese football. Notably, Coach Kim and the Vietnam U23 team won the Southeast Asian U23 Championship for the third consecutive time (July 2025), topped the 2026 Asian U23 Championship qualifiers (September), won the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games (December 2025), and secured a bronze medal at the 2026 Asian U23 Championship after an emotional victory against South Korea U23.
With the national team, the South Korean coach and his players lifted the ASEAN Cup 2024 trophy in January 2025 in Thailand. Thus, in just one year, Kim and Vietnamese football swept the titles at the SEA Games and the ASEAN Cup. This is an unprecedented achievement for Vietnamese football, even under his predecessor Park Hang Seo.
After a successful year, coach Kim Sang Sik and his wife and children celebrated Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) with joy and happiness. The titles that coach Kim won are a very meaningful gift not only to his family but also to Vietnamese fans.

Coach Kim Sang Sik once shared that family is like his own body. Being away from home for work is inevitable, so he keeps his homesickness to himself and focuses on his work to contribute to Vietnamese football.
"My family, my wife and children have constantly encouraged and congratulated me throughout this time," coach Kim Sang Sik said emotionally.
"Happy New Year to everyone," said coach Kim Sang Sik in Vietnamese. The South Korean strategist affirmed that he and his colleagues, along with the Vietnamese players, are not stopping at their achievements but are looking towards the future with many high goals, even the World Cup.
