Speaking after the match, U17 Malaysia coach Javier Jorda Ribera admitted that his team was inferior to U17 Vietnam in terms of skill. He said: “U17 Vietnam has proven that they are the strongest team in the group.

This team has many attacking strategies, from attacking in the middle, developing the ball from the two wings, to coordinating small. Overall, U17 Vietnam controlled the match and deserved to win.

Malaysia U17 tried to counterattack by passing the ball behind Vietnam U17's defense but this plan failed. At the beginning of the match, we had a great chance to score but missed.

The first goal changed my whole plan. The young Malaysian players were also shocked because they lost so early. We had prepared carefully for this match but lost at a sensitive time. The goal at the end of the first half by U17 Vietnam put U17 Malaysia in a difficult position.”

Meanwhile, coach Cristiano Roland was happy with his players' performance: "We deserve what we have achieved. The whole team has shown its strength. As I said from the beginning, our mindset is always to focus on each match. I have made a plan and shown the players the way to carry it out. They have done their job well.

I am a happy coach. The players are really great. The whole team deserves to be congratulated. Today's result proves that we are a very strong team."

Besides the joy of victory, Coach Roland sent his thanks to the fans: “At this moment, the most important thing is that I am very happy and satisfied. The players did everything I asked and believed in what I taught. I am grateful to the fans who came to the stadium to cheer for the team.”

He also shared about his upcoming work plan: “I achieved my requirements and completed my tasks at the Vietnam U17 team. Tomorrow, I will return to work at Hanoi Club to prepare for the U19 team with 14 days before the national U19 tournament. Today, I am very happy, but tomorrow will be a new task. I want the best for Vietnamese football. I am here for the love and development of Vietnamese football”.

The 2026 AFC U17 Championship will take place in Saudi Arabia from May 7 to May 24, 2026. In the last two tournaments, Vietnam U17 were eliminated in the group stage. In the upcoming tournament, the team hopes to go further than that.
