However, coach Shin Tae Yong suddenly revealed that he had accepted an offer to lead another team after his contract with the Indonesian team expired.
Sharing with Sports Kyunghyang, the Korean coach said: "I received the offer a week ago. I will not accept any more offers to lead a Southeast Asian team.
I still have many discussions to extend my contract with PSSI. Of course, if I leave early, I will have to pay compensation. Currently, I still keep my promise to work with the Indonesian team until the contract expires in June 2024."
Despite the Indonesian team's 0-4 defeat to Australia in the round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup, coach Shin Tae Yong still received great support from the media and fans in the archipelago country. On social media, Indonesian fans have called on PSSI to soon renew the contract with the Korean strategist.

Similarly, Indonesian media also asserted that PSSI "needs to act soon" to negotiate a contract extension with coach Shin Tae Yong. They were disappointed that PSSI President Erick Thohir remained calm after the team's success at the 2023 Asian Cup.
Coach Shin Tae Yong started working with the Indonesian team in 2019. Although he could not help the team win the title, he gradually improved the quality of Garuda (the nickname of the Indonesian team). They passed the group stage for the first time in the history of participating in the Asian Cup.
