Thai coach rates U22 Vietnam highest at SEA Games 33

Head coach of Thailand U22 Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul assessed that Vietnam U22 is the strongest opponent in the race for the gold medal in men's football at the 33rd SEA Games in 2025.

"We focus most on U23 Vietnam, the team that won the U23 ASEAN Cup 2025. Next are U23 Indonesia and U23 Malaysia. U23 Thailand will not underestimate the remaining teams, because we believe that all opponents have made progress," he said.

At the 33rd SEA Games, U22 Thailand is in Group A with Timor-Leste and Cambodia. U22 Vietnam is in the same group with Malaysia and Laos. The remaining group has the presence of defending champion Indonesia.

Coach Thawatchai said that Thailand U22 team is having some changes in their squad during the mid-November training session as many players are unable to join the team. On November 15, the team will have a friendly match with India U23 team to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games.
