"Congratulations to Malaysia for winning. Laos is weaker than Malaysia. We still lack many factors to win such as tactics and physical strength. The players need to improve more. The stronger team won," coach Ha Hyeok-jun said after the 1-4 loss to Malaysia in the group stage of the men's football at the 33rd SEA Games on the afternoon of December 6.

Regarding the reason for Laos' defeat, the Korean coach said: "There are many reasons why Laos keeps losing like that. First, the domestic national championship needs to be strong, so we have a basis to choose good players. Currently, Laos' domestic league is very weak. The players have tried their best, tried to follow the tactics, but their physical strength is weak, when their physical strength is low, everything is no longer according to plan."

"Looking at the score, it seems that Malaysia is stronger than Vietnam. But we need to look at other things. When we met Malaysia, we had just met Vietnam 3 days ago. So judging based on the score will not be accurate. To know who is stronger, we need to wait for the two teams to face each other. It will be an interesting match," the head coach of the U22 Laos team commented on the decisive match of Group B between Vietnam and Malaysia taking place at 4 p.m. on December 11.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian coach expressed his satisfaction after the big win: "First, I want to congratulate my players for winning and having a great performance. They fought and did not give up until the last minute."

"Some players are still busy playing for their clubs so they have not participated in this match. Four players are about to arrive, one player has a fever. We hope to still try to fight to get a ticket to the semi-finals," said Mr. Nafuzi Zain.

"We encountered many difficulties in the preparation for the SEA Games. The players were busy competing in the National Championship. Before that, we did not play well in the Southeast Asian U23 tournament as well as the Asian U23 qualifiers. But today the players overcame the challenge and I am very proud," the coach added.

Besides, Mr. Nafuzi Zain admitted that he watched the match between Vietnam and Laos and had respect for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team: "Vietnam is the Southeast Asian champion, of course they are very, very strong. Vietnam has healthy, fast, mature players. Vietnam is always a top candidate for the championship. Therefore, we need to try to prepare well. We are not allowed to lose, that is the important thing."

The victory helped U22 Malaysia surpass Vietnam at the SEA Games. On the afternoon of December 6, U22 Malaysia let Laos open the score but still won 4-1 in the group stage of men's football at the 33rd SEA Games.
