Supporting underprivileged students to celebrate Tet: A beautiful tradition in schools.

Every Lunar New Year, alongside the joy of the majority of students, there are still many who have to celebrate the new year in difficult circumstances. For many years, the movement of students joining hands to share and support poor students in celebrating Tet has been maintained by schools in Thai Nguyen province, becoming a beautiful tradition in the school environment.

Students from Quang Trung Secondary School contributed to the "Rice Jar of Compassion - Helping Children Continue Their Education" competition, sharing with disadvantaged students during Tet (Lunar New Year).

At Phung Chi Kien Primary School, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nga, a student in class 2A whose mother is undergoing treatment for a serious illness, has received attention and support from teachers, students, and parents throughout the school.

During a flag-raising ceremony in mid-January, the school launched a fundraising campaign and raised over 23.5 million VND to support the family. In addition, Ngoc Nga will receive subsidized lunch for the remainder of the school year, allowing her to continue attending classes with peace of mind.

At Quang Trung Secondary School, one of the most effectively maintained activities is the "Rice Jar of Compassion - Supporting Students to School" model. During the 2026 Lunar New Year alone, staff, teachers, parents, and students at the school donated over 1,420 kg of rice. This collected rice will be donated to disadvantaged families within the school's student union and shared with students in underprivileged areas.

Immediately after the "Rice Jar of Compassion - Supporting Children's Education" contest, the Quang Trung Secondary School's Youth Union donated 200kg of rice and 1 million VND to disadvantaged students in Ten village, Van Lang commune, in response to the "Winter Volunteer Program 2025 - Spring Volunteer Program 2026".

Ms. Nguyen Hue Oanh, Principal of Quang Trung Secondary School, said: "The most important thing students learn from this activity is to care and share. By directly participating in support activities, they gradually develop a sense of responsibility, empathy, and appreciation for the values around them."

The school's continued operation over many years has practical significance in educating students, helping them experience compassion naturally, thereby forming habits of living with love, sharing, and responsibility towards the community.

In the days leading up to Tet, many other schools such as La Hien Secondary School, Son Cam 1 Primary School, etc., also organized "Rice Jar of Compassion" events, attracting the participation of a large number of students, teachers, and parents.

Son Cam 1 Primary School has collected 1,366 kg of rice, which is expected to be donated to disadvantaged students both within and outside the school's student union during Tet (Lunar New Year).

On a broader scale, the students' spirit of sharing is further extended through charitable programs aimed at helping disadvantaged areas.

On January 27th, the Luong Ngoc Quyen High School delegation participated in the "Spring Volunteer Program 2026 - Warm Winter in the Highlands, Spring Comes to Small Villages". The program donated gifts, warm clothes, and provided material support to Ban Peo school in Nghia Ta commune, with a total value of over 100 million VND.

Specifically, the Youth Union of Luong Ngoc Quyen High School and the LCOT Volunteer Club of the school donated 45 gift packages to the program, including milk, school supplies, candies, teddy bears, and cash, with a total value of 12 million VND.

From rice collected in classrooms to timely donations to needy families, these simple acts have helped many students alleviate some of their worries during Tet (Lunar New Year).

Through these activities, the children get to do things themselves, give back themselves, and understand that sharing isn't about grand gestures, but starts with simple, everyday actions.
