Mr. Le Van Phuoc (residing in Tuyen Binh commune) received support from the local authorities for breeding cows, giving him an additional livelihood to stabilize his life.
Mr. Le Van Phuoc (residing in Binh Chau A hamlet) is one of four households receiving breeding cows from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction. His family is poor and has a difficult life, while he also has to take care of his elderly mother and two young children.
Receiving the breeding cow, Mr. Phuoc emotionally said: "I am very happy to receive the State's support for breeding cows! With the cow, my family has an additional source of livelihood, I also have the conditions to take care of my mother and let my two children continue their education." For Mr. Phuoc, this is not only an asset but also a motivation to rise up and escape poverty sustainably.
In addition to donating breeding cows, the program also organizes training courses on livestock breeding techniques and arranges veterinary staff to monitor and provide direct guidance at households. People are equipped with knowledge from how to care for cows, prevent diseases to breeding techniques to improve reproductive efficiency. Thanks to that, livestock are cared for properly, limiting risks and creating opportunities to increase the herd.
Head of the Economic Department of Tuyen Binh Commune, Ho Minh Can, said: “The process of selecting households to receive support is carried out publicly, transparently and to the right subjects. The list of poor and near-poor households is reviewed according to the multidimensional poverty standard, with people's opinions collected and confirmed by the Hamlet Front Working Committee. In addition to income criteria, the locality also considers the conditions of the barns, the ability to care for, and the spirit of each household. All are monitored by the Fatherland Front and organizations, ensuring that there is no duplication or omission of subjects.”
According to Mr. Ho Minh Can, the model of supporting cows for reproduction has brought about remarkable results. Many households have increased their income after receiving cows, and some have even escaped poverty by expanding their livestock farming scale. To improve efficiency, the commune proposed to strengthen training on breeding techniques, provide additional support for barn materials, and implement “cow rotation” - sharing calves with other poor households.
Currently, Tuyen Binh commune still has 63 poor households, accounting for 1.29% and 155 near-poor households, accounting for 3.17%, striving to have at least 2 households escape poverty by the end of the year. During the year, the program aims to support the diversification of livelihoods for about 39 households, contributing to building a sustainable production foundation and improving the quality of life of the people. The breeding cow support program not only gives assets but also gives confidence and motivation to help Tuyen Binh people firmly step on the path to sustainable poverty escape./.
