On the morning of November 26, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry, Mekong Delta Branch (VCCI Mekong Delta) organized a workshop on "Vietnam's Economy 2026: Prospects for growth and sustainable development in the Mekong Delta". The workshop aimed to support businesses and fisheries cooperatives in the Mekong Delta to update economic trends in 2025-2026, and learn about industry development orientations in line with new standards.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Hien, Deputy Director of VCCI Mekong Delta, introduced an overview of the project.

Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Hien, Deputy Director of VCCI Mekong Delta, said that in 2025, the world economy in general, Vietnam in particular, especially the Mekong Delta region, will experience many fluctuations. In particular, the seafood processing industry will face many difficulties such as slow growth, weather changes affecting farming. Along with that, the export market is increasingly demanding on the environment, labor, social responsibility, green transformation for sustainable development... In the face of these difficulties and challenges, the workshop was held to review what happened in 2025, discuss and evaluate the economy in 2026. From there, it will help businesses have more information to build production and business plans, and seek new opportunities in the face of market trends. The recommendations at the workshop will be summarized and reported to the Government to help businesses overcome difficulties.

The workshop also summarized the recent activities of the Project "Enhancing responsible business capacity, meeting sustainable standards and integrating gender in the shrimp industry in the Mekong Delta" implemented by VCCI Mekong Delta in collaboration with Oxfam (a non- governmental organization operating in the field of rural development). Launched in June 2025, the project has now entered the completion stage, thereby supporting businesses to find tools, knowledge and skills to meet the export market requirements for the shrimp industry in particular and seafood in general.
