Support customers to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3

Since September 6, storm No. 3 ( Yagi ) and its circulation have caused serious damage to people and property, greatly affecting people's lives and production. In order to promptly support customers to overcome difficulties, restore production and business activities, and implement the direction of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the SBV Provincial Branch has requested banks and credit institutions in the area to urgently deploy tasks related to supporting customers to overcome the consequences caused by storm No. 3.

HDBank Phu Tho reviews existing customers affected by storm No. 3 to have timely support plans.

Mr. Pham Truong Giang - Director of the State Bank of Vietnam Provincial Branch said: Immediately after the State Bank of Vietnam issued the policy, as the focal point, the State Bank of Vietnam Provincial Branch coordinated with departments, branches and sectors in the area to advise the Provincial People's Committee on solutions to support people affected by damage and areas affected by storm No. 3. In the immediate future, credit institutions, branches and transaction offices will proactively review and quickly summarize the damage of customers who are borrowing capital to promptly apply support measures and remove difficulties. In particular, focusing on support policies such as: Restructuring debt repayment terms, considering loan interest exemption and reduction, continuing to provide new loans to restore production and business after the storm, and handling debts for customers who have suffered damage to their loans in accordance with current regulations.

Banks and credit institutions proactively balance and compete for capital sources and annual credit limits to meet the loan needs of customers affected by storms and floods and for the end of the year. Focus on implementing credit programs and networking conferences to directly dialogue and resolve difficulties for customers. During the implementation process, if difficulties or problems arise beyond their authority, banks and credit institutions must promptly report to the State Bank for consideration and handling.

At the request of the State Bank of Vietnam, the provincial branches of the State Bank of Vietnam shall report on the situation of loan losses of customers and the initial results of implementing support solutions of the banking sector in the area before September 20, 2024. Therefore, banks and credit institutions in the province are urgently and thoroughly taking action to support customers in a timely manner.

Mr. Vu Manh Ha - Director of LPBank Phu Tho said: The unit is focusing all resources to strengthen and supplement the staff force to review customer groups in the management area to grasp the situation of loan capital damage after the storm. The unit is ready to support as soon as customers have complete documents according to regulations to accompany customers to quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

It is known that LPBank Phu Tho has 1 head office, 12 transaction offices covering 13 districts, cities and towns and the right to operate 14 post office transaction offices across the province, so the impact of the storm on the number of customers as well as the bank is not small. Currently, the Branch is urgently directing its affiliated units in the areas affected by the storm to focus on repairing the infrastructure and operations of the units, ensuring smooth and safe operations, not affecting banking transactions as well as credit activities.

Sharing with customers and people the heavy damage caused by storm No. 3, Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Director of HDBank Phu Tho said: HDBank Phu Tho's customers are mainly located in Viet Tri City and some neighboring districts. Following the direction of the State Bank, the unit has informed its customers about the policy of supporting to overcome the consequences of the storm. Currently, the unit has directly communicated with 70% of existing customers, the remaining customers will continue to be informed. After reviewing, the unit will consider the level of impact of each customer group to have appropriate support policies.

Along with professional tasks, the Banking sector is also actively participating in building a plan to implement social security work for families suffering from human and property damage, areas heavily affected by storm No. 3, especially poor households, policy households, and ethnic minority households to encourage people to overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives, and restore production and business.
