According to the lunar calendar, tomorrow is the first day of the twelfth lunar month of the Year of the Snake (2015). Since this morning, many people in Hanoi have been rushing to the market to buy peach blossoms to decorate their homes, hoping to welcome a prosperous and fulfilling last month of the year.

At flower markets like Quang Ba, as well as local markets such as Chau Long and Ngoc Ha, and roadside flower stalls, the atmosphere is busier and more bustling than usual.

Small peach blossom branches, especially those with a light pink hue, are a popular choice because they are reasonably priced, easy to display, and symbolize good fortune, dispelling the cold and gloom of late winter.
Ms. Bui Thi Bich Lien (Hoan Kiem ward) shared that early in the morning she went to the flower stalls in front of Dong Xuan market to choose three small peach blossom branches for her family to display on the first day of the twelfth lunar month.

At Chau Long market, peach blossoms are displayed in abundance, mixed with other ceremonial items such as fresh flowers, betel nuts, cakes and fruits… serving the shopping needs of people for the first day of the twelfth lunar month.

At Quang An market, people are bustling about buying and selling, choosing fresh flowers, offerings, and essential goods, creating a lively scene in the final days of the year, signaling the approaching Tet holiday.

Although there is still about a month until the Lunar New Year, Quang An market has become vibrant these days as many gardeners bring out peach blossoms to sell, painting the entire market pink from early morning.

Peach blossom branches, priced from 100,000 VND to several hundred thousand VND, always attract a large number of early buyers.

Amidst the cool weather of Hanoi , early-blooming peach blossoms weave through every street corner, illuminating the city with vibrant colors, heralding a spring quietly knocking on every door and street, easing the hustle and bustle of life and evoking feelings of anticipation for the traditional Tet holiday in the hearts of the people.

Besides peach blossoms, many food items and fruits for offerings during the first day of the twelfth lunar month are also chosen by people.

Small traders at Bac Qua market were busy preparing flowers and fruits, and arranging their stalls to welcome shoppers.

Shippers are constantly delivering chickens with roses in their beaks, a type of ceremonial item at Gia Ngu market, to serve the needs of many families for offerings and rituals on the first day of the twelfth lunar month.
