Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has asked power corporations to direct their member companies to seriously and thoroughly review cases of customers with unusually high electricity bills in June. This is to ensure accuracy and transparency in calculating electricity costs.
Accordingly, units need to provide full information on electricity consumption during the billing period, and clearly explain how to calculate the bill, especially for households using electricity for domestic purposes.
In particular, EVN requires corporations and power companies to promptly provide information and clearly explain to customers; at the same time, clearly propagate how to calculate electricity bills for June, changes in issuing invoices, managing contracts and collecting electricity bills before and after the time of merging administrative units.
Units are also required to provide information on solutions for monitoring daily/monthly electricity indexes via customer care App/Web and instructions on safe, economical and efficient use of electricity...
EVN assigns the leaders of the power corporation and the director of the power company to directly direct and discuss with customers or assign staff with adequate knowledge and skills to respond to customer requests when receiving feedback about unusually increased bills.
Directors of power companies are responsible to the power corporation and EVN for the results of handling customer complaints.
Previously, the Lao Dong newspaper reported that many consumers were shocked by the high electricity bills in June. "This month's electricity bill is almost as high as the previous two months combined" - Mr. NVT, in Dong Ngac ward, Hanoi said. He said that this month his family spent 1.084 million VND on electricity, while in April and May, the total was 1.386 million VND.
On social media forums these days, high electricity bills are a topic of debate for many users. The electricity bill for June, which is double that of the previous month, is mentioned a lot.
"Dizzy because the electricity bill from last month was 1.84 million VND and now it's 3.6 million VND" - a social media account complained, when this month "there have been nearly 20 rainy days according to statistics from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting", less use of air conditioning but the electricity bill has skyrocketed.
