At the meeting, Mr. Michael Michael Szönyi introduced the vision and plan of the Z Zurich Foundation in the Global Program on Strengthening Resilience to Natural Disasters and Climate Change to 2027 and vision to 2030; discussed the challenges and priorities of Hue city in the field of natural disaster prevention and response to climate change, sustainable development; coordinated with the city to develop and implement proposals calling for new funding in the field of natural disaster prevention and response to climate change.

From September 2022 to 2025, ISET will coordinate with the City's Department of Irrigation and Climate Change to implement projects related to enhancing community resilience to natural disasters and climate change. Thereby, the Z Zurich Foundation and ISET have paid attention to and supported the implementation of projects in Hue city to deploy solutions to enhance resilience to natural disasters and climate change. The projects have contributed to enhancing the capacity of local authorities at the commune level and disaster prevention teams to support the community in response; improving the effectiveness of early flood warning work...

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Hai Minh sincerely thanked the Z Zurich Foundation and ISET for their support in mitigating natural disasters through the project. At the same time, he affirmed that in the face of increasingly fierce and unusual natural disasters, the city's disaster prevention and control work is facing difficulties and challenges, requiring the joint efforts, contributions and attention of the whole society, including the ISET project.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Hai Minh suggested that the Z Zurich Foundation and ISET continue to support the integration of natural disaster risks into urban development planning; improve the database serving disaster prevention and control to support real-time decision-making; apply artificial intelligence in reservoir operations and flood monitoring. Develop a disaster prevention and control plan, respond to storms, floods, and extreme heat. Continue to invest heavily in the storm and flood monitoring and warning network such as: rain gauges, water levels, temperatures, and wind speeds (both in terms of equipment and real-time data analysis technology).

Along with that, increase resources for the grassroots (communes, wards), on-site PCTT forces, vehicles, canoes, and appropriate equipment; continue to organize periodic PCTT drills, increase coordination between departments, branches, and localities. At the same time, raise community awareness, build a warning network from villages, provide early, easy-to-understand information.
