Contributing the energy of youth

Instead of choosing grand initiatives, members of the Red Phoenix Volunteer Club start with simple, age-appropriate activities. Ngo Gia Han, a 12th-grade student from class 12A14 and the club's leader, said that the "Nurturing Sunshine" charity program, organized in February 2026 at the SOS Children's Village in Hai Phong, is one of their exemplary activities. With the participation of 50 members and a budget of approximately 15 million VND, the club meticulously prepared 100 gift packages, including sweets, milk, and school supplies, and also donated an additional 3 million VND to support the village's operating fund.

Beyond simply giving gifts, the program also organized cultural exchange activities and games, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere for the children at the beginning of Spring. With the meaning of "nuom" (planting) and "nang" (sunlight) conveying the message of nurturing hope and spreading love to those less fortunate.

In addition, the Red Phoenix Volunteer Club carries out other meaningful activities such as: supporting the preparation for the "Statue Casting Ceremony and Gift Giving to Underprivileged Students" at Hong Phuc Pagoda (Kien An Ward); participating in "Green Sunday"; cleaning up the environment, beautifying school grounds and streets. Especially, every winter, members organize the distribution of about 40 loaves of bread and drinks to sanitation workers at 6 PM on Hoang Quoc Viet, Phan Dang Luu, and Kien An Five-Way Intersection – the time when sanitation workers begin their shifts. These small gifts show care and encouragement, warming the hearts of the workers. A book and story donation program is also implemented near the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, targeting children aged 6-15. Just a few days after launching, the club received nearly 200 books from the support of many students at Kien An High School, bringing knowledge to underprivileged children. “Each activity not only provides material support but also instills confidence in the recipients. Through these activities, we understand life better, learn to love, share, and grow from the smallest things,” Gia Han said.

Impressed by the enthusiasm of the seniors, Ngo Thuy Hoa (class 11B13) actively participated in many activities such as visiting night-time workers, assisting at social welfare centers, supporting students during exam season, and especially the "Nurturing Sunshine" project. "When I directly handed out gifts and saw the joy clearly on each child's face, I felt that what I was doing was truly meaningful. That's the motivation for me and my friends to continue accompanying the Club," Thuy Hoa expressed.

Proactive resource management

To sustain its activities, the Red Phoenix Volunteer Club proactively solicits support through social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. However, instead of relying on external support, members actively raise funds through their own efforts. From September 2025 to the present, the club has organized two sales events on the school grounds.

In the first phase, the students chose familiar items like Indomie instant noodles, noodle soup, lemon soda, and grilled skewers; in the second phase, the Club innovated by opening a booth for taking and printing Polaroid photos. With reasonable prices and a clear message, the programs received a positive response from students throughout the school. All profits were used to support disadvantaged individuals. "In the future, in addition to maintaining regular activities, the Club will expand its connections with several high school volunteer groups and clubs in the city to organize larger-scale programs," said Club President Ngo Gia Han.

According to Hoang Thi Thanh Huyen, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Kien An High School, the Red Phoenix Volunteer Club is an effective model that contributes to educating students about responsibility, compassion, and community awareness. Through its activities, students not only participate in volunteer work but also develop skills, learn to share, and mature. The school and the Youth Union provide facilities, partially support funding, and encourage the club to proactively raise funds and connect with social resources to maintain its long-term operations.

Through small but persistent actions, the Red Phoenix Volunteer Club is contributing to spreading the spirit of compassion, where students can experience and practice communication and teamwork skills, fostering connection and personal growth.
