Through community projects and intimate lacquer works, she affirms the creativity of the young generation in connecting and renewing Vietnamese culture.

In the fast and volatile flow of Generation Z - a generation of constant movement and a desire to expand all limits, artist Luong Thi Thanh Phuong has chosen for herself a unique rhythm of building a community for artists.

Instead of pursuing economic benefits, I want to put the weight on the inner depth, believing that it is people who create art. Because only when we are a community can we extend the life of tradition into contemporary life,” artist Thanh Phuong shared.

Thanh Phuong said that she always strives to create independent art spaces, where paintings go beyond the personal framework to become a bridge. She is the initiator of many group exhibitions, which are not simply exhibitions, but open up spaces for lively dialogue between people, between art and society.

In addition to her personal art projects and creations, Luong Thi Thanh Phuong also actively participates in community activities. She regularly organizes workshops and art experiences for all ages. These activities are not outside of Phuong's consistent philosophy: Art must be nurtured from within, but ultimately must return to serve and connect the community.

Luong Thi Thanh Phuong's artistic identity is also shaped by the way she appreciates painting materials as living entities. " After studying lacquer at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, each surface, each light, each line and tone is a language of thought for me. On that material, there are invisible emotions: It could be repressed memories, emotions pushed into the dark, or inner impulses looking for a way out," Thanh Phuong shared.

This is clearly shown in the lacquer painting "Bạt Cô Trôi Cố" (2024). The painting is a surreal dream, where the image of Mỵ Châu appears not simply as a historical symbol but as an echo, a mirror reflecting back to the creator herself.

The half-real, half-dream space opens up, creating a strong emotional field where the mysteries of history and personal consciousness intersect. The work is a contemporary perspective, showing how a young artist dialogues with and re-imagines tradition.

Along with that, the work "Xam Thuc - Phon Thuc" shows the thinking about the operation of the extremes. The two works operate like a circle of yin and yang, a dialogue between opposite sides in life.

They do not cancel each other out, but from that conflict, a new vitality, a new development is born and operates. This reflects a dialectical, mature view in the creative thinking of the young artist.

The journey from inner strength to community of Gen Z artist Luong Thi Thanh Phuong is therefore not only a personal story but also an open path, affirming the power of art in creating sustainable human values.

Luong Thi Thanh Phuong (born 2001), graduated from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, Faculty of Painting - major in Lacquer. She pursues traditional lacquer as a way to open a dialogue between classical materials and the aesthetic sensibilities of the younger generation.

The young artist has organized exhibitions: "First Stroke"; "Intersection - Origin - Harmony - Birth"; "When the Sun Comes By"; "Spring Son". In addition, she won the 2025 Cartomancy Exhibition Challenge Champion with the work "Batching Her to Tied to the Pillar";...
