Hoang Chau is building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment.

The people of Dinh Sen village are cleaning up the village roads.

The village roads are clean and well-maintained, lined with green hedges and neatly trimmed flowerbeds – this is the landscape of Hoang Chau today. This neat and beautiful appearance of the commune stems from a change in the awareness and actions of the local people. Environmental sanitation work is not only carried out in sporadic campaigns, but is built upon the regular and persistent efforts of the local government and people in creating a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment.

In the villages, maintaining environmental hygiene has become a daily habit for many residents. Visiting Dinh Sen village on a Sunday morning, the atmosphere of environmental cleanup was lively and well-organized. From the main road to the village lanes, everyone had a task: some swept the village roads, others collected garbage, and still others trimmed the green hedges and flowerbeds in front of the community center. Without the need for loudspeakers to urge them on, cleaning the environment has become a regular weekly habit for the people of Dinh Sen village. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, from Dinh Sen village, said: “Every weekend, the villagers come out to clean up. It’s become a habit; no announcement is needed, everyone proactively cleans. Seeing the roads clean makes everyone happy, and everyone is more conscious of maintaining them.”

Mr. Le Xuan Hue, head of Dinh Sen village, said: “The village has intensified propaganda to help people understand that they are the direct beneficiaries of a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment. From there, the movement will become more in-depth and effective. Every Saturday and Sunday, people clean up the streets and areas with less traffic. 100% of households participate in contributing to waste collection and environmental sanitation; 90% of households have trash cans in front of their houses. Each family always proactively cleans the surrounding environment, sorts waste at the source, and collects it in the designated places. Building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment has contributed to achieving the goal of becoming a model new rural village by 2025.”

In the positive environmental changes in Hoang Chau, the role of mass organizations is clearly demonstrated, especially the Women's Union and the Youth Union. Not standing idly by, these associations and organizations have become a core force, directly participating in and maintaining specific tasks associated with each residential area.

Sharing about how the village is building a clean environment, Ms. Pham Thi Loan, Vice Head of the Women's Association of Dinh Sen village, said: “The association has specifically assigned each section of road to each group. There are weekly reminders and inspections, so the women participate voluntarily. The association also links environmental hygiene maintenance with the evaluation of culturally exemplary families and the building of a civilized lifestyle. The members encourage their family members to sort waste and dispose of it in the designated places.”

To achieve the goal of building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment, the Women's Union of Hoang Chau commune has propagated and mobilized the people to implement resolutions, directives, and guidelines of the Party committee and government at all levels on environmental protection. At the same time, it has launched many activities, models, and movements for environmental protection such as: "Women's self-managed road sections," the campaign "Building families with 5 no's and 3 clean's"; and "Green Sunday." In 2025, the Women's Union of the commune planted more than 400 new trees; maintained 12 self-managed road sections and green fences. The Union implemented the "Green Saving" model and the "Collecting scrap - turning waste into money" model, raising nearly 7 million VND to support women and children in difficult circumstances in the commune...

In parallel, the Youth Union of the commune regularly maintains "Green Sunday" activities, focusing on cleaning difficult areas such as vacant lots, drainage ditches, and community activity areas. Youth union members not only participate in cleaning but also educate and remind people to sort waste and dispose of it in designated areas.

To ensure the movement to build a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment becomes a reality, immediately after the establishment of the two-tiered local government system, Hoang Chau commune issued a plan to implement the construction of model new rural villages by the end of 2025 and to carry out landscape beautification and ensure a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment in the commune, from 2025 to 2030. Accordingly, the commune has assigned clear tasks to each village and each mass organization, linking the responsibility of the head of each organization to the results of implementation.

One approach in Hoang Chau commune to ensure continuous environmental protection is to promote the self-governance role of the community and each individual citizen. Hoang Chau commune identifies each household and each residential area as the "nucleus" in building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment. Therefore, the commune focuses on disseminating information, providing guidance, and creating conditions for people to directly participate in, self-manage, and self-monitor environmental protection activities starting from the village level. As a result, people's sense of responsibility is raised, and they actively participate in environmental protection.

According to Mr. Chu Van Doan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoang Chau commune: “The commune will continue to put the people at the center, maintaining and expanding self-governing models for environmental protection. At the same time, we will strengthen propaganda and integrate environmental protection with building a civilized lifestyle and developing new rural areas. The goal is to make building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment a habit and a sustainable value in each residential area.”
