The 33rd SEA Games taking place in Thailand will feature a very special athlete: Queen of Thailand Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana.
She will lead Thai sailors in the SSL47 keelboat event from December 15 to 18 at Ocean Marina Resort Pattaya.
Thai Olympic Committee Vice President Chaiyaphak Siriwat also confirmed that Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana will compete.
"This SEA Games is a very special competition because Her Majesty the Queen is preparing for the SSL47 yacht race from December 15 to 18 at Ocean Marina Resort Pattaya. I would like to inform Thai sports fans to be proud and follow this competition," he said.
Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana served in the Royal Thai Army and held the highest position of Deputy Commander of the Royal Security Command (with the rank of Special General). She then married King Maha Vajiralongkorn on 1 May 2019, and was proclaimed Queen Suthida four days later.
Queen Suthida has continued the Thai Royal tradition of sailing, a sport that was initiated by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya and flourished since the 1960s.
Previously, Queen Suthida also participated in the 37th Phuket King's Cup at Beyond Kata, Mueang District, Phuket Province. She led the "Vayu" boat racing team to first place in the second leg. She also participated in the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2025 on November 30.
SEA Games 33 will take place from December 9 to 20 in Thailand.
