Digital learning materials and the door to the AI era

We are living in a flat world where knowledge is open source and updated every second. The current and future global trend is to standardize content, diversify forms and expand learning materials.

While we debate whether to use book A or book B, whether to use a series or multiple series, the world has long moved past this debate. They have put an end to "paper books" and opened an era of "open learning materials ecosystem" (OER).

This is the time to talk about artificial intelligence (AI) - the greatest lever of 21st century education. We need personalized learning and AI to help each student have a roadmap, a version of learning materials suitable for their level and interests, turning learning from imposition into experience.

Current textbooks need to be digitized.

In addition, there is automatic updating. Knowledge (history, geography, technology, etc.) will be updated by AI in real time, ending the situation of outdated printed books.

South Korea, Singapore, and Estonia have switched to fully digital learning materials, saving 70-80% of printing, reprinting, and training costs. Textbooks are no longer beautiful and expensive pieces of paper, but must become a living digital platform - flexible, up-to-date, and interactive. Vietnam cannot continue to stand outside this revolution.

Need to socialize and publicize. Open completely to universities, professional associations, and independent experts to participate in compilation and appraisal. The State should only play the role of standardizing and monitoring quality, not monopolizing production.

Textbooks must be digitalized. Books must have an open electronic learning material version that can be updated annually without reprinting. Put AI at the center by applying AI to compilation, teacher training and student assessment. Build a national smart textbook platform. Innovate content and methods by focusing on innovation according to the digital competency framework and AI, not just changing the cover or paper size. Basic math, physics and chemistry do not change, what needs to change is the way of teaching and learning.

Education reform cannot only look at textbooks but must look at the national educational vision in the digital age.
