Training conference for first-time candidates for National Assembly representative.

On February 8th, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Committee on Representative Affairs, in coordination with the National Assembly's Ethnic Council and the Committee on Culture and Social Affairs, organized a training conference for first-time candidates for the National Assembly. More than 80 candidates, including women and members of ethnic minority groups, participated.

Chairman of the Committee on Delegate Affairs Nguyen Huu Dong delivered a speech.

In his opening remarks at the conference, Chairman of the Committee on Delegate Affairs Nguyen Huu Dong stated: The National Assembly is the highest representative body of the people and the highest organ of state power. The quality of the National Assembly is determined by the quality of each National Assembly delegate.

Members of the National Assembly must have a desire to contribute, dare to think, dare to act, dare to innovate, dare to take responsibility, and put the common good above all else. Members of the National Assembly must truly be loyal representatives of the will and aspirations of the people; possess strong political acumen, impeccable ethics, deep expertise, and excellent parliamentary skills.

Most importantly, representatives must maintain close and regular contact with their constituents, listen to their concerns, and honestly reflect them in the parliamentary session, while also being subject to the people's oversight. The trust and confidence of the constituents is the highest measure of a representative's prestige and responsibility.

The Chairman of the Committee on Representative Affairs stated that the Party and State of Vietnam have always paid special attention to continuously improving the proportion and quality of representation of women and ethnic minorities in elected bodies – those who bring the practical spirit and unique voices of women and ethnic minorities to the parliamentary arena.

Because women make up over 50% of the population, and ethnic minorities are an inseparable part of the great family of Vietnamese ethnic groups, the voices of representatives from ethnic minorities are the voices from the most vibrant realities of life, contributing to the National Assembly's enactment of policies and laws that are practical, humane, and fair.

The conference aims to help candidates not only master legal regulations but also equip them with necessary skills, thereby building the image of an exemplary representative in the eyes of voters; it is a serious preparation in terms of both "mindset" and "strategy" so that candidates can confidently enter the upcoming election campaign.

The Chairman of the Committee on Representative Affairs noted that the journey from a successful candidate to a elected representative is a great challenge; he urged candidates to focus on diligently studying, developing action programs, and showcasing their individuality and strengths.

At the conference, the candidates listened to presentations from speakers providing an overview of the National Assembly and the election process; the participation of women and ethnic minorities in the National Assembly; experiences in selecting the content of action programs for female and ethnic minority candidates; skills in building and presenting action programs; and sharing experiences and practicing communication with press and media agencies during election campaigns.
