At the Ca Mau bridge point, the Conference was attended by representatives of the Board of Directors of the Department of Health ; leaders and experts of the Professional Department. Also attending were leaders of the Ca Mau Provincial Center for Disease Control; representatives of provincial and district hospitals; Regional Medical Centers and related units.
At the Conference, delegates heard information from the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City about the meningococcal disease situation, the risk of recording cases in the Southern region and the professional requirements in monitoring, detecting and handling cases. The implementation content focused on the epidemiological investigation process, collection and processing of specimens, testing capacity, infection control work at medical examination and treatment facilities and disease prevention communication in the community.
Delegates at the connecting points exchanged and discussed difficulties in identifying suspected cases, testing capacity and information coordination between levels. Some proposals were raised to enhance epidemiological vigilance, ensure proactive monitoring and timely handling when an epidemic situation occurs.
At the end of the Conference, the Department of Health requested its affiliated units to continue to closely monitor meningococcal disease; review the capacity of collecting - preserving - sending samples at the district level; strengthen communication activities in the community; ensure coordination between units in the process of monitoring and handling cases. Units need to proactively develop response plans according to the professional guidance of the Ministry of Health and the Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, not to be passive when suspected cases appear in the area.
