The Automation Machine Builder Award (AMBA) is an academic platform for engineering students with a spirit of "Creativity and Sharing," where students have the opportunity to develop ideas and solutions throughout the design, assembly, programming, operation, maintenance, and optimization phases of machines, based on real-world problems from businesses and manufacturing plants.
Launched in November 2025, AMBA Season 2 attracted 62 teams with over 300 students from 27 universities and colleges nationwide. After the preliminary round, 24 outstanding teams were selected to advance to Round 2, where they continued to refine their solutions based on technical criteria and practical applicability.

As part of the competition, the teams participated in over 20 hours of intensive training with experts from technology and automation companies. The training focused on machine design thinking, industry standards, equipment selection, system integration, and solution optimization, helping students gain a closer understanding of the real-world requirements of manufacturing businesses.
In addition to training, AMBA Season 2 also organized three factory tours and hands-on experiences at CICOR Vietnam, Manutronic Vietnam, and Sumitomo Heavy Industries Vietnam. Through these activities, students had the opportunity to directly observe production lines, operational processes, and the industrial environment, thereby adjusting and refining their competition entries towards feasibility and high applicability.

From the entire training and experience journey, the 10 best teams were selected to advance to the AMBA Season 2 Finals. Here, the teams will present, operate, and defend their solutions before a judging panel comprising business representatives, technical experts, and lecturers. The program will also include an awards ceremony, recognizing the efforts, creativity, and potential of students in the field of automation and industrial manufacturing.
With the aim of becoming a prestigious academic platform in the field of automation, AMBA not only contributes to improving the quality of engineering education but also promotes linkages between schools, businesses, and factories, creating conditions for future generations of engineers to master technology, understand industry processes and standards, and contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam's industrial sector.

Professor Le Hung Lan, Vice President of the Vietnam Automation Association, delivered a speech at the ceremony.
Innovation based on real-world business problems.
Highly appreciating the idea of organizing the competition by the Organizing Committee, the Vice President of the Vietnam Automation Association, Professor Le Hung Lan, said: The Machine Design and Manufacturing Competition for Students has entered its second season, receiving enthusiastic participation from many teams and numerous technology companies and manufacturing plants.
In the context of the country promoting the training of high-quality technical human resources to serve smart manufacturing and double transformation, students participating in the AMBA Competition have the opportunity to apply their knowledge from school and unleash their creativity based on real-world business problems. Furthermore, the competition fosters collaboration between schools and businesses, providing opportunities for mutual understanding and creating a pool of potential human resources.
"The Vietnam Automation Association, which brings together many expert members, trainers, and businesses in the engineering industry, always supports and is ready to cooperate with the Organizing Committee in the next competitions to spread and improve the quality and value of the competition for the community," emphasized the Vice President of the Vietnam Automation Association.
