On April 27, 2022, the Government issued Resolution No. 59 on continuing to pilot sending Vietnamese workers to work seasonally in Korea under the form of cooperation between localities of the two countries. Up to now, 16 provinces and cities have signed and sent over 10,000 workers to work in Korea under the Seasonal Labor Program, mainly in the agricultural sector such as planting, harvesting agricultural products and a few in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture. The average income of seasonal workers in Korea is from 30 to 47 million VND/month, excluding overtime. It is estimated that after working for 5 to 8 months, each seasonal worker accumulates from 150 to 320 million VND.
According to statistics, the demand for seasonal labor recruitment in the agricultural sector in Korea is increasing. In recent years, Korea has granted an average quota of 70,000 - 80,000 people/year to meet the demand for seasonal labor in the agricultural and fishery sectors. Many provinces and cities have proposed expanding the implementation of the program to meet the strong demand from Korea as well as the growing demand for participation of Vietnamese workers.
